Metro $55 plan question

ithought this might be helpfull because alot of us wont read the terms and conditions of service including myself. Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS and Conditions of Service"Nature of Services. The Services are provided via Rate Plans under which, in certain circumstances, you do not pay metered "per minute" charges for service. In an effort to offer this Service on a reliable basis at a reasonable cost, MetroPCS may discontinue providing Service to you, change the services provided to you, change your Rate Plan, reduce the speed of any service provided, cap or restrict the amount of use of any service, change the services and features in your Rate Plan, discontinue your account, or discontinue or limit providing connections to particular telephone numbers, countries, destinations, providers, features, services, or types of services used, requested or called by you or allowing the provision of certain services or services in certain areas, such as pursuant to roaming arrangements, at certain times, or at certain speeds that, in the sole judgment of MetroPCS, appear likely to generate abnormally high call volumes, abnormally long average call lengths, calls with abnormally high costs, abnormally high use, or other disproportionate use when compared to those of other customers of MetroPCS (as described below under "Your Use Of The Service src="http://www.androidforums.com/images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" smilieid="4" class="inlineimg" />, numbers or types of services or which may be harmful, disruptive, or interfere with MetroPCS' system or services to other customers. You acknowledge and agree that the web and data Rate Plans provided by MetroPCS are designed to be, and shall only be used, predominately for HTML/WAP browsing and multimedia streaming services provided by MetroPCS, its affiliates, authorized suppliers and licensors, and not for off-portal multimedia streaming services. While we may, but you acknowledge and agree that we are not required to provide notice to you before taking any of the foregoing actions, you acknowledge and agree that we may take any of the foregoing actions without providing notice you. By initiating service and placing calls or using any other service on the MetroPCS system, you acknowledge and agree to MetroPCS' ability to modify or terminate your Service under these circumstances." i just read it and it looks like they will discontinue your service if they suspect abnormalities in your data, call, etc. even if your service is unlimited.

ive watched 2 seasons of family guy a season of supernatural and a season of the walking dead a few movies here and there my usage is at 4% wth

That whole bit about asking for the password throws up red flags to me. You might want to look into that.

DANGER! Will Robinson! DANGER!

I would tell your daughter to put that email down and take 10 steps backwards from it.

There is no way I'd know that anyone would want her access info for her account. This smells like a Phishing attempt to me and if your daughter already gave them her password What Else Did She Give Them. She could already have a compromised identity and not even know it. So far as the email goes, it could say Metro's Right Hand to God Dept. and not necessarily go there (look at the original message info from the sender).

She should either communicate with Metro from their website **the she accesses NOT by hitting ANY hotlink** or to a phone number She Knows is Metro (already has it in her phone).

This deal smells like serious poopee to me.

exactly what i was saying.

Hmmm this is certainly weird some users are having data counted towards their "unlimited data plan" and some like me are not yet we are using similar apps and such features but still there is no pattern for these such results...... Perhaps data in roaming areas are counted heavily not sure don't quote me since I live in the heart of the Tampa bay Im 100% metropolitan area. Just a theory perhaps more people can confirm their data usage along with a general location and from there we can try to figure this out.

My data usage is at 39%
Daughters at 61%, and hers has been throttled!

Good ideal, N4zty

I think it all depends on when they signed up. I am in your boat, i have only seen the bar above 0% 1 time. It stayed there for a day and disappeared the next day.

My data usage is at 1% and I've streamed tv shows, radio, etc...

I usually only use it heavy in my car though (it's tethered to my tablet and my tablet is essentially my head unit/stereo). at home its on wifi.

i just signed up a few weeks ago

whats also weird is diva's daughter hasn't used up her bandwidth nor has she, i mean 61% that means 39% more bandwidth left if indeed there was a cap. so again our conclusion is unsure. perhaps theres a fine print on the $55 plan im gonna see if i can find the real amount of data allowed, cuz we all know the word "unlimited" has been thrown on the internet and used lightly.

Edit: ok i knew it their fine print has something in bold that caught my eye when i checked out the $55 plan on metro site and this might be whats happening for few of ya.

Abnormal Usage: Service may be slowed, suspended, terminated, or restricted for misuse, abnormal use, interference with our network or ability to provide quality service to other users, or roaming usage predominance.

so seems they are monitoring the usage that suppose to be unlimited...... so question is how much would be considered abnormal????

Divagirl, what's the answer to All This?

Did your daughter make Real contact with Metro and ask them;

-Whether they knew of or wanted to see emails "from them" asking for passwords?
.
-If the message was real what are the amounts of usage that warrant a throttle warning?

If the email was bogus, it's still a good root question. IF there is any throttling I would think someone in the Tech area of Metro would know the answer to When it happens.
