Metro and Google Voice Question

Newbie
Good morning everyone, this forum is terrific. I read it all the time, even if just lurking ..

My question of the day:
With setting up google voice on this Spirit, how do i get around the fact of Metro network does not support disabling their voicemail service? Not sure if i phrased it correctly, but this is what i'm trying to do. Use google voice as my cell phone voicemail service not metro.

Or do you think i should ask metro directly. I just hate dealing with them. It seems like i get a different answer depending on who i talk to.

Ask them on Metro's Facebook page, keep it short, sweet and to the point.

Many have been having good luck there.

Here's the answer from Metro via Facebook:

So no help from them. Does anyone else have an idea how to use google voice to handle all voicemail?

A quick Googling for you looks like you are SOL.

Google VM doesn't appear to work with Metro. Some are liking the Visual VM from Metro though. It's free too (Depending on your phone and plan).

Thankfully, Visual VM is included with my $55 plan. OTOH, it is part of the $5 add on bundle with all the newer plans.

I can kind of see Metro not wanting to support a service that works the same as one they already have as a paid for option.
