Metro Ascend missing Internal Memory
Things that don't make sense.
The Ascend specs show the caps of the phone to be: RAM - 256 Mb
Flash - 512 Mb
768 total

Android Asistant shows: Memory Info(RAM) - Total 178.83 MB
Phone Space Info(ROM) - Total 166.62 MB
345.45
768 - 345 = 423 MB missing storage. Does anyone know where this storage has gone, and how might I get it back??

Thanks for the help:confused:

You can't just add them up like that. RAM and ROM are totally different things. The RAM is basically where your operating system is, and it uses the rest to actually run the OS. The ROM memory is used to store system apps, apps you download that aren't able to be moved to sd, etc. even apps you move to sd will use some of the internal memory. Your memory isn't really missing, its just being used.

Thank you for the reply. this is the third place i posted this, finally got it right.
I understand that I oversimplified. My point was that there is a REAL big differance between the specs for this phone (RAM - 256, ROM - 512[/B]) and reality (RAM - Used 147.49 Free 31.29 total Mem 178.83 - ROM used 131.6 Free 35.02 Total 166.62)
My question is why is there such a large disparity between my phone and the specs? I know a GB isnt a billion, MB isnt a million, but I have never seen them this far off the mark.

I would say the RAM is being used running the various processes of the phone, and the ROM is being taken up by the pre installed apps on the phone, as well as the cache for various things, text messages, contacts, etc. Maybe somebody smarter than me can give a better explanation, but that's all I can think of.

You are looking at a listing for available user memory.
What you aren't seeing it the memory that is literally locked away for use by the system. Its not gone, its there. You just can't see it
