Metro Data Problems 6/28/11 (WARNING: DO NOT RESET YOUR PHONE AS IT WILL NOT FIX ANYTHING!!!)

Oh good, thought I had buggered my phone up. I was in Lake Wales, FL today and couldn't download anything from the app store. Could get onto the net and browse though
 
On the bright side, I think this problem has brought some new members to the boards! Please stick around after this problem passes.
 
Hopefuly it will come back soon, because this had me worried, I just rooted it a few days ago, so I thought it was my fault because I could get on the internet but I couldnt download anything from it, not even a picture, same with the market I tried to download a few apps and it would say "Downloading" or "Download paused" and just sit there. Well I feel better knowing it was not me.
 
I live in the Dallas area, was about to reset my phone. But decided to look on some forums, possibly register to post a thread asking why in gods name my data wasn't working and if I should reset my phone or rage on Metro. My data has worked "intermittently". Facebook doesn't work, genius quotes app works, google search works, youtube doesn't, weather widget doesn't. So I'm like totally going bat s crazy over this. I can view the droid app market, but then go to download an app and it doesn't work. Just removed the battery for the first time since I got it on Saturday. Grateful I decided to search around on some forums before doing anything drastic.
 
Finally a post that has answered some of my questions. I am in southern cali and my data hasn't been working for 3 days now. This sucks. I flashed then re-flashed my phone many times. I am able to search the web and search the marketplace but I cannot download apps nor can I run apps that require data such as foursquare. I hope they fix this crap soon cause I miss my slow ass data. Can't wait to get a 4g phone.
 
Just started feeling the effects of the MetroPCS data loss in the DFW area.
My guess is that firmware upgrades are being rolled out.

To everyone in general:

This is a MetroPCS problem, not your phone. It has happened before and will happen again. DO NOT RESET YOUR PHONE OR LET METROPCS RESET IT!

Doing that will only cause you heartache when you realize that it didn't fix anything. Between here and other sites with customers complaining, I have probably seen ten or more people that reset their phone and are now unhappy about it. It would be really nice if they had sent out an advisory that this was going on, but they don't seem to do that. The last time this happened it lasted almost a week, so let's hope this gets fixed faster this time!!!

Yeah, and Metro engineers do NOT tell their customer service reps anything. So, when customers call in the the customer service people only have useless scripts to go by -- as if something were wrong with your phone. They either don't know or are not allowed to admit their network is wonky for now.

Do NOT let them mess with your phone!
 
iv been having issues, both me and my gf live in the dallas TX area and we have no data, she does not have the optimus but i do. i called metro and as far as they told me they are having service issues and are tryimg to fix it.

Sorry, but I strongly disagree here. The Metro reps are extremely uninformed. They are very likely to instruct you to reset your phone and you will lose everything for no reason whatsoever. You will get better information here than from them.
 
Thank god I found this. I fully flashed an Evo to Metro PCS last night for my girlfriend and I was thinking I did something wrong. Figures Metro's data is down because I triple checked every setting. I'm in Central Fl btw, no data in Casselberry, Altamonte, Deltona, Orange City.
