Root Metro is smarter than I thought.

I had my second phone brick today. Reluctantly I made the trek to my local corporate Metro store. I've had the second phone since the 13th, so I just wanted a working phone. Needless to say I was facilitated for no charge.

I digress, Metro broke their contract with Coolpad which brings me so much joy. No more Quattro's will be sold but you can still get OTC's most are probably not working, I had to go through 3 non-working ones.

I'll be getting a Samsung device first chance I get.

I had a ROM cooked for this phone, and there's no way to install it. That's how my second one broke.

let me get a copy of that rom. we will crack this phone man. I think im on to something by increasing the recovery partition size to flash this cwm compiled recovery image.

why a brick? ive managed to do everything ive done without any kind of brick or soft brick issue. I have a system backup of my phone, I know it erases all data on the phone when you reparition but just use the system dump and adb to put it all back then make a new system dump including the partition sizes an compiling a stock rom. Cause I know if we can get this partition to 6mbs we can use this cwm recovery to flash roms.

I get enough money to buy a good phone this coolpad is gonna reach it's true form, a projectile.

I'll upload it later.

Hello Ferdinand,

Currently, there are no plans to release the source code. I can update you if more information regarding releasing the source code becomes available. Would this be okay with you?

I think its more than partition size. And why I say brick, partitioning a embedded system isnt like partitioning a hdd etc. Research some of the samsungs that ppl attempted to re-partition for the same or similar reasons... full on perma bricks. ;)

Not saying it cannot be re-partitioned, but its not as easy as you are thinking it will be. ;)

What we need to do, is get as many people to contact Coolpad and request the release of the source code. If everyone here, whether they have the phone or not, contacts them, then there would be more of a chance of getting it released. I contact them a least twice a week, think they done blocked me now, lol. So, I have created several other email accts to contact them from. So come on peeps, spam them sob's, so we can get source :D

Mass demand is a good tactic, but this is a Chinese company that releases cheap product that only function as phones and not much more above that. They're worth a lot and losing the US market isn't a drag for them, they've tried this market by licensing phones to other companies.

ZTE and Huawei are great Chinese OEMs, totally in-tune with the customer base.

I asked Huawei to unlock my Premia bootloader (the one I'm uncertain if locked/unlocked LOL), they told me to get lost. Twice :D

what are you smoking??? lol they both make lowend shyt and both disregard the GPL and refuse to release kernel src, and code like they learned from a coloring book. ;)

Anti-depressants! I feel okay all day. lol

I love the Nexus series soooo much, I can't afford a tablet though.

Huawei doesn't bother with us neither does ZTE but their phones out of the box are better than coolpads.

thats not really fair comparison, its like saying the hotwheels in your happy meal are better than the cardboard cars you made yourself. neither one of them is gunna drive like a real car and get you where you want to go comfortably like a samsung/lg/htc/moto

Coolpad is a bigger company though, their stock shares just based in China alone beat out almost every company. It is a fair comparison this isn't their first phone, most of their line up doesn't hold up. Coolpad is the 9th leading phone manufacturer, which is higher than BB and Nokia. ZTE is 4th and Huawei is in-between.
