Root Metro pcs 3g coverage map

Where would that be exactly? I kind of feel like you're full of it though just to put Metro down, lol.

LOL, definitely not stretching anything to put metro down, they do that themselves. Flint area MI. Not saying there isn't areas with better coverage, but I do live in an area they have marked as "best" and I have had between me and my girlfriend 4 different Metro phones here. My old kyo flip phone was the best for service, I just turned it on to compare to my optimus, at my desk they both get 0 bars, enough for text, not quite enough to make a stand able phone call. Outside the kyo is getting 2 bars, the optimus has 1, not under any awnings or trees standing way out in the yard for least interference.

If I force my optimus into evdo mode I actually get 3 bars outside, but no signal at all inside.

I have a cm7 optimus and a completely stock one to compare side by side, unless I have 2 bad phones here, that map is just plain wrong in this area.

Your kyo and the optimus may calculate bars differently so maybe it's just the kyo making you think you have more signal. ;) Unless you have the dBm or asu measurement :D. My area is rated as "best" and i still get little to no signal inside my house too...

While that may be true, I can say my kyo did not lose calls inside my house, my android constantly does unless I find a decent spot and don't move at all.. lol

Where in Trenton do you live? Honestly, just because that map shows your city is in the "dark purple - 3G" part of Metro's coverage doesn't mean where you live is exactly 3G. Go to this site...

MetroPCS | Coverage

And enter in your address to see if you have the actual "full 3G" access. The dark purple means you should have it, or pretty close to always having it, while the lighter purple lowers your chances. I wrote this quick sorry if it didn't make much sense.

:)

No offense Holly, but I'm well aware of Metros coverage and what shade of purple I'm in which according to them is "Best" My point is that a lot of people have recently gotten 3G service due to Metro back tracking on their "lets skip 3G" plan"

Just because Metro says it the best coverage, doesn't mean it is true. Having said that, I have no real complaints other than CS and the idiots they staff their stores with and I am happy to be a Metro customer. Just want what I see everyone else seems to be getting and it seemed logical to assume that NY and Philly would be areas where it would be a no brainer to revamp the system.

All the maps I've seen show great 3g and 4g coverage in the Detroit and surrounding areas. But I have yet to see either one. No 3g in the south western suburbs of Detroit with PRL 3020, 3022, or 3023. A few of my friends have the "4g" phones, and still they are slow loading the Market and web. A bit faster, but not by much. Oh well, more waiting....:(

I have yet to see working 3g or 4g in Michigan.

Are you guys updating your P.R.L.'s? It's a manual instruction that Metro should have informed you guys about doing which updates your coverage map on your phone. (*228 > Language Choice > Press 5) If you already knew/have done that, then my fault; just listing out possible solutions. :)

My family lives in Voorhees, New Jersey and I've recently flown up there to stay for a couple of weeks and I had perfect signal. Even while I was in Philly (we have to take the plane there) I had a moderate to good signal. Not once was I out of coverage; always, at least, the bare minimum. As for Michigan.. I don't know what's up with that..

As for signal inside of your house, well, no phone company guarantees you coverage inside your home (except one - I think it's Sprint, but there's an obvious trick to what they mean when they say they'll guarantee it). We actually had a customer today come in to the store wanting to switch back to us (he went to Verizon) because he wasn't getting any type of better signal inside of his home than he did with us and just ended up paying more of a significant amount of money with them for the exact same problem. I'm new to the Forums and I know you all are probably going to call b.s. on that, but it's true. :p

Sorry though... I'm one of those "idiots" that Metro staffs their store with and I want to just try and help with your problem.

And a lot of people complain about the customer service Metro has.. you guys mind telling me what's wrong with them? I really want to know because everyone that comes into the store just says "it's a long wait." The only problem I've ever had with them is that they're all Arabian and I can never understand them, hah.

Yeah we know about PRL's, we upload the latest ones using QPST, *228 is still giving out 3019 here and I have 3023 on my phone currently.

As for Michigan, well the Flint market any ways, It's always been the bastard step-child to Metro. They put up some towers here cuz they knew the broke folks in the ghetto would bite. In the Detroit market it's totally different. Up here, I don't remember the type of service we have, but you can't flash anything to Metro here. I have friends in Detroit that have nice androids flashed to Metro, when they come up their phones don't work...

As for the other issues with Metro, as a business that has a 100% American customer base, transferring my calls to India is a slap in the face. I don't speak Hindi-american gibberish, I speak American Midwest English, I should get to speak to someone that speaks my same language. I might be a nit picker but thats just how I feel dammit, :p .

Other than that the poor snake-oil salesman type marketing Metro has is my biggest problem. Buy one get one free phones for one. I went to the corporate store in Flint when they did this when the Optimus was new. I was gonna buy one get one free, or so I thought. EVERY sign in the store just said buy a phone get a phone free. Now to the whole rest of the world this means Buy one get one of equal or lesser value free. Well there was only ONE sign in the entire store that had the fine print about only fischer-price phones... You wanna know where that was? ON THE WALL BEHIND THE COUNTER. Right where not one single person would be able to read the damn novel worth of fine print, I searched the whole store...

Or how about "4g"? I had speeds that equal Metro "4g" with a Sprint EVDO rev.A dumb phone. Snake OIL. LTE is capable of 100Mbit/s. Telling someone they are getting LTE and giving them less than 5% of the speed is WRONG. Metro "4g" LTE speeds = Bigboy carriers 3g. Anyone that wants to argue that point turns instantly into snake oil salesman. I don't want to hear semantics over a 100k/s. Switching from 2g to 3g was night and day, switching from 3g to 4g can and should be too...

And coverage maps, pfft. I just lost a call today to a land line at Maple rd. and Dort hwy. Look that up on your silly little coverage maps, smack dab in the "best" zone, 1 bar and losing calls in my car... I am VERY aware of the antenna placement in this phone and do everything I can to make the signal stable.

It's the Flint market, it sucks, they should really shit or get off the pot here. I've said for years now, it's half the price of sprint and 1/4 of the service.

I was REALLY looking forward to hearing back from the Metro Shill that accused me of making up shit to bad mouth metro.

I was offended being accused of making shit up and I answered with as detailed response as I could offer.

I guess I must have hit home calling metro snake oil salesmen...

I found 3g in royal oak mi 13 and woodward...to apartment from my car i have to park 2 blocks away.i get 3g up until i get to the door.

LOL sorry for the novel...

The thing that always makes me laugh is how customers 'know' there is always the fine print. "buy one, get one free" (if the customer read the fine print, see store for details) or knowning that all business (american or not) always have a catch, that's why it's called marketing.

by now in 2011 - actually in 1905..'if it's to good to be true, it most likely is, but that doesn't me to not try it or buy it"

there will always be some sort of 'catch' if you will, some will feel pisses otherwise will get it, other don't care and roll with the punches.

as far as the 4G LTE goes..metropcs has it capped and I can only speak for NORCAL at the moment, that the speeds are 2-3mbps (I do know it dallas, detroit and michgn that their speeds are up to 16mbps)

NORCAL will be uncapped in Dec. Other markets, not sure yet.

The reason for the cap is because they have the LTE and 1xrtt servers intergrated with one another which limits the LTE data threashold. Once there is a full conversion to all LTE servers then it will be uncapped. Patience is a virtue..

AND in the States, LTE is only makes out to 25mbps (hardware limits) Europoe is using LTE Advanced servers which will allow them speeds up to 84mpbs.

So the Standard LTE equip can't to 100mbps..LTE Advance can or close to it, so you'll want to head to Europe for those speeds lol

But seriously, even anything more than 16mbps on a phones if ****ing plenty and nuts..Unless someone wants to play World of Warcraft MMO on their phone, then sure that'll be usefull, otherwise even 84mpbs is insane speeds for a phone.

Anyway, I was jealous by your long rant, so I long-ranted-:)

Hope this was a little bit useful in calming down your heartache.

Take care and rant on! Oh and be patiecent :)

"it's a long wait" is retail (I work for metro in Cali..Oakland area) yikes..that can come with a pistol (jk)

but what metro customers don't understand is that metro is continously growing. 500,000-1mil (new customers) a year is a lot year after year..

So customers who've had other carriers (because metro came after them, being a young 13yr company) are used to dealing with over the phone garbage BS customer service. somethings wrong with my phone verizon rep, blah blah, ok we'll mail you one cause we dont care to even troubleshoot the problem and actually fix the problem, and send us your phone that most likely doesn't have any issues other than the user being the issues..

Therefore, there will be long waits because a customers can be 30secs up to 30mins or longer. Depending on their issues.

Granted metro could have 'more' options customers can take care of on their own but then that would just cause chaos and yeah, that's not gona fly.

haha. hang in there. things will be changing soon enough!
