so tmobiles LTE will be AWS 1700/2100MHz?

so to bring a device from a tmo branded device would have to be the above frequencies?

T-Mobile's HSPA+ network operates on the same band as our 3G network, Band IV, which uses 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies to transmit voice and data services. The 1700 MHz frequency sends information to cell sites and the 2100 MHz frequency receives information.

As with our 3G network, both 1700 MHz frequency and 2100 MHz frequency are required for a device to function. If a device only has one of these frequencies, it cannot use T-Mobile

(Iamsirlurkalot the way you added the T-Mo quote made it IMPOSSIBLE to quote your post. I had to <Major PIA> snip the whole damn thing. :( )

Then something is amiss here.

I need me a AF Genius to 'splain something to me, this has me all cornfuzed.

If the above is twue, (and yes it's from TMo paperwork) then how does Current T-Mo S3 work on T-Mo's LTE? According to this, it only has ONE of the required frequencies, not Both. (The below are it's bands C/P from the T-Mo website)

Band (frequency): UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS/HSPA+: AWS Band IV / 2100 / 1900 / 850;Band II (1900);Quad Band GSM;LTE

According to this, it's missing the 1700 band. How can it work on ALL the current T-Mo LTE network then?

AWS uses 2 frequencies 2100 for DL and 1700 for UL, 1700 is used for the band 4 identification which is AWS so 1700/2100

EDIT: Wrote ^^^ pretty badly, Bruce look at the specs again it tells the actual band frequencies for the others(1900 & 2100) but when it's talking about Band IV it has AWS in parenthesis not band numbers because AWS corresponds to both 1700 & 2100MHz. That's why it's AWS 1700/2100MHz

I. Say. Again.

1700 IS NOT LISTED in the frequencies I cut and pasted from the T-Mo S3 spec sheet.

[EDIT after seeing GM EDIT :p ] The listed ALL the frequencies, I didn't think they'd not list 1700 too. I just want to be sure of what to look for in the used T-Mo and/or Metro S3, zas all.

the tmobile sgs3 doesnt support lte, it never has.. unless they did a switch out...

It says LTE right in the frequency list from the T-Mo S3 specs I quoted.

Which would be EXACTLY the reason I'm asking this. If one T-Mo S3 is LTE and one isn't, and I'm thinking in the future of a used T-Mo S3 I need to be Damn Sure what I'm sposed to get.

<Sucking in great huge breath> We're almost there.

So IF I were to get a T-Mo S3 used I Really Need to be sure it's the 2nd T-Mo model if I want it to work FULLY on the new combined network???

If so that is going to GREATLY complicate getting one on Ebay as the seller will always screw up which specs or phone they have.

Yes cuz if you get the 1st one it'll have no LTE whatsoever

i see exactly what you mean, neither S3's (with or without LTE) have the 1700 band...so how does it uses Tmobiles HSPA+

Model without LTE: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9300_galaxy_s_iii-4238.php
Model With LTE: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9305_galaxy_s_iii-5001.php

good question.....

Edit:

seems like someone forgot to add the band on the GSMArena specs website, wikipedia says it has the 1700 band

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_III

I don't think most people are getting that they're trying to get as much people as possible on LTE because as of right now and the foreseeable future its the most spectrally efficient (mbps per MHz) technology out there

Bruce for tmo S3 its T999
T999= HSPA only
T999L = HSPA & LTE

Model without LTE: Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III - Full phone specifications

Samsung Galaxy S III - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Weird that it's STILL not saying 1700

Great Big Help there Sir, Thanks!

Now the $225 question.

How can I easily tell a i9300 from a i9305? If the seller gives you the ESSN number to check will that also show that model number?

[EDIT] After Gman's clarification, easily tell apart a T999 from a T999L?

And that is why I have said previously I would not want to buy a tmo s3.

One way to tell is the label under the battery, the t999l should be prominent.
