Metro PCS Joyn App allows WiFi calling. Thoughts?

So i downloaded the app, works AWESOME for WiFi calling, its easy on the battery when running in the background (which is an enormous plus), and allows video chatting as well (with other people using the Joyn app).

My only gripe with this as it sits is no WiFi texting, which is a big deal for me because i get shitty service at my house. Once they add WiFi texting this will be one of my favorite apps ever...

Thoughts?

Hmmm... sounds cool. Can you make wifi calls with this to non-MetroPCS phones? I was under the impression that -- to receive a wifi call -- the recipient had to have have both MetroPCS service and the joyn app installed on their phone. Or am I misunderstanding it?

Yes you're misunderstanding it.
The Metro-only requirement applies to video calling through Joyn, not regular voice calls. For standard calls it's the same as having regular phone service and you can call/receive calls to/from anyone, it just uses your wifi connection instead of the cellular network. This is the only reason I installed Joyn, to be able to have phone service when there was no cell signal and only wifi was available. I have used it for this purpose and it works, albeit with a few quirks but I have in fact been able to make and receive calls on wifi when not in a service area.

Yes you can call whomever you'd like, and it uses your normal metro number. It is a very impressive app considering it is free and does not cost anything extra per month. This is an outstanding addition to the metro lineup.

I wouldn't bother closing it to be honest. It uses minimal memory (about ten to fifteen mb) and doesn't drain the battery at all. I had it on at work this morning, with Wi-Fi on, and airplane mode (data off) and my battery stayed at 100%for over an hour. Plus i get no service and full WiFi where i work, so it's key :)

Is there a way to bypass the this device isn't supported popup? I've managed to get all other @Metro app's working except this on a Note 3, mainly I pulled them from a Metro Galaxy Mega, even have blockit and visual voicemail working.
