Root Metropcs android update failed, not enough space to dowload

Guys are these your first android phones? Or first one that ever got an OTA?? On Android, updates are rolled out to a certain percentage of phones first, then it expands to more and more until all the L70 eventually gets the update. If you need more detailed answers, Google is your best friend.

Underhanded snide remarks are not needed, this is why we come here, to understand things better from people who are in the know, instead of searching and possibly dealing with more people who dont know what they're talking about or give wrong info. And googling it brought me here when i decided to go root.

Yes, Android OTA rolled out slowly to different regions, different carriers, and different hardware revisions. When did you see an OTA rolled out to the same phone at different times?

It wasn't a snide remark, i was being serious. I first said android OTA updates rolls out in batches to different phones of the same model. If you want to know why that is, i was stating that there's always google, but since no one likes to do research i'll explain:rolleyes:

The answer is everytime, Since day 1 it's always been like that on android, every single device that has ever gotten an android update always rolls out in batches. It doesn't matter if you have a Nexus 5, Galaxy S5, or LG G3, whenever any android phone gets an update it rolls out in batches. It's not like IOS where we can all gather up and press the "check for software update" button and all get the notification and download it at the same time.

There's many reasons why Android OTA's rolls out in batches:

1. Sending the OTA to a certain amount of phones allows consumers to give feedback and when all is good the next batches are rolled out and so on. This method would of helped apple out a ton with their 8.0.1 OS update where thousands of people complained about service not working or Touch ID not functioning. Almost every single IOS user had access to that OS update while it was rolling out and it would of been extremely bad if they all did update at the same time. But unlike on Android, only a couple hundred people get first hands on the update, so if something is wrong there's no possible chance it can affect all the devices at once because not all the devices has access to the update like we are all experiencing right now. When it works like that, a manufacturer can easily pull the update if something is wrong and make corrections.

2. Limiting the amount of bandwidth at the same time. Another prime example is Apple's update system, on IOS when everyone has access to download the latest update, the download time for a majority of users are 2-12 hours even if the user themselves has the fastest 4G or WiFi in the world, Some users are lucky enough to get it in less than an hour. On android now, because only a few people are downloading it at the same time it allows them to download at faster speeds, with a good WiFi or 4G signal you can download a 500mb update in under 15 minutes depending on the file size.

Theres much more behind the reason of batch updates for Android devices but those are the 2 main ones. As annoying as it is when it comes to waiting for an update. You always benefit from it and so does the manufacturer, safety's first. Apple just sends it out to everyone at the same time and that can be extremely dangerous. I'd rather wait a few days-weeks for an new update rather than be out of a phone because of some idiotic engineering mistake.

Thanks for your reply and effort. I do know MetroPCS L70 and Cricket L70 may not get OTA at the same time. But again, my two LG L70s are both from MetroPCS, purchased one week apart. So they are the same phone from the same region and same carrier. Unless someone points out MetroPCS has two or more kinds of L70s, I do not see the logic there.

You're missing the point here, the whole thing that i wrote up there earlier applies even if the same phone is on the same carrier. I was never implying that a cricket L70 could get an OTA while the Metro PCS one didnt get it yet cause the reason behind that is obvious. The whole thing I wrote was based on phones that are the exact same, and are on the exact carrier.
A person a mile away from you with the same device on the same carrier could of gotten the update while yours didnt even though its the same device and carrier. Once again it all goes out in batches regardless if its the same phone and on the same carrier. I can't possibly explain it anymore, if you're more interested there's lots if articles that would cover this I suppose.

Sorry to break up the party but I've found This tutorial that might help us.

Later in the thread they update it to 1.2 and you no longer need cheat engine. This looks like it'll work.

Do you plan to test this with our L70 ? Or are you looking for someone else to try it first then post the results? See, I have the updated zippy on my phone but havent had to use .kdz or .tot or anything else, guess I have been lucky, idk, but if I need them I will install them when the time comes. Am I right to do this or do I need to go ahead and install those now as a precautionary move? Then do this "CWM injection"?

I was just about to try it. I was under the impression the boot loader stayed unlocked after flashing with the lgflashtool but I could have misunderstood. Damn. Well it was wishful thinking.

Hi, we have three L70's in the house, one rooted & two unrooted. NONE will except the update! All get the same 201mb Can't install MSG. Read some where that the update will be available in another form (I suppose LG Tool) on October 13th. Besides they seem to run fine the way they are. Just use Link2SD and don't forget to install and run SDFix. This is my third LG Phone from Metro and I've Never Ever heard of Metro updating the OS on the LG's. NEWS TO ME !

Weeks ahead of ya, you can already update if you want via the flashtool. Nothing is new in the update, at least nothing noticeable. Don't update if you like to root your phone because the new software update is not rootable.

This thing is so frustrating! Freezing update center will NOT stop the message. Apparently the System Updates is still running even the Update Center is gone. There are two options in Update Center, App Updates and System Updates. But I can only find the App Updates and freeze it. I cannot find the System Updates.:banghead:

I have the Lg L70 from metro pcs my phone was already rooted with towelroot which I downloaded from the internet as an apk.

I downloaded the update and my phone is still rooted. and im able to "make it rain" without any issues.

Answer to the insufficient space I just deleted apps until it started downloading and put my phone on the charging making sure it was 100%

Cobra are you sure your phone is showing 10c as the software version? What about the build number they should both be the same. If you are still rooted and able to use towelroot then I suspect that you are still on build 10b. Please check and post back. thanks.
