Root MetroPCS blocked Tethering?

For the past few days I had noticed my data/3G going in and out constantly. I have had my phone set to Simple IP only for quite awhile now so I decided to switch back to Mob IP and realized that 3G worked constantly without fail never went out..Back to slower speeds :(
Went to try and tether my 3G and upon trying to open a webpage there was a MetroPCS terms of service thing saying Tethering isn't allowed. Is this a part of their new crap updates?

I'm running PRL 03027 with Admiral Beast Theme not the rom.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so is there a work around to try and tether... possibly change proxy settings from Metro's to a different proxy server o.o?

i was getting the same thing until i tried pdanet to usb tether (which was a pain). once pdanet's trial period ran out (which is little known) i had less access to internet, specifically no longer allowed to view https (secure) sites like facebook.. i downloaded opengarden wifi tether, and have been tethering for roughly 15hrs a day for the last week or two.. speeds are pretty good, a bit of a lag during high system usage (metropcs in general, not the admire or laptop) but i can play my flash games, and download/upload all day long.. the only issue i seem to have is overheating of the admire's battery, sometimes hitting temps of 110-120degrees if im not paying attention to it..

I tried OpenGarden and still get this message.

Per the Terms and Conditions of Service, Tethering / Mobile Hotspot is not currently supported.

My tethered data hit a total of 106GB yesterday. I don't have a problem tethering at all, oh and MPCS is fixing up 3G all over. So don't freak out, switch back to Simple IP. It works for me. As for the overheating, try freezing some water in a ziplock, and whenever you need to tether just place it on top with some paper towels. I know it's ghetto, but my phone stays from 20-50 degrees Fahrenheit. Try using a different program.

i forgot, try goin into build.prop w/ rootexplorer or whatever you're usin to get into root.. mount files as read/write, scroll down a ways, and you'll find this:

ro.tether.denied=true

change true to false, save, and mount as r/only.. back up to the home scrn, reboot the phone, and give it a go.. lemme know if that helps.. havent had the mpcs denial page pop up since.. hope it works for ya..

I reverted back to 3026 PRL and used simple IP. Simple seems to have issues with me on 3027 PRL and the Tethering notification when trying to visit a URL while Tethering my 3G.

Metro will detect windows if you try to tether your laptop and will give the warning message. I use Firefox on my laptop. Just install user agent switcher here's the link:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/

Use user agent to switch to android or linux. This will trick metro network into thinking your running android. Here's another link for more info:

My apologies to the Mods if this sort of talk is not allowed.

how did you revert back to 3026? i updated to 027 before the weekend and noticed that it has a habit of dropping service and reverting to 1x and a considerably slower than a constipated snail speed.. wanna go back to 026 and see if metro's tower updates work better..

I downloaded the 026 PRL from a post on here and used QPST to write to phone. :)

I think you'll find that PRL 3027 and simple IP will work well now. I have 3027 and switched back to simple IP yesterday and haven't had any problems.

I am afraid that won't work. I tried Tor, proxies, and VPN, and they got that all locked down. When my DSL went on the blink yesterday, I tried everything I could possibly think of to bypass the block on tethering, no dice.

I'm not sure why you all are having this problem, as I can still tether. However, I did the DATA FIX from one of the recent post's, and my 3G on PRL 3027 is fast, with full service, I tether to my laptop, PS3, iPad, Tablet, and iPod with no trouble WHATSOEVER. and my ro.tether.denied in build.prop is still set to TRUE.

I am able to tether to my old notebook with win XP when I try to tether to my new notebook with Win 7. Its blocked. Is their anyway to tether to my new notebook with Win 7

RedBeansNrice, this actually worked for me but I would like more functionality. I'll read further in the thread.

Okay guys....I have been tethering no problem when I updated to PRL 3029. Then recently (for a week now) I have been getting the Metro Tethering Warning. I noticed I was updated to PRL 3030. (I hear metro is up dating network.)

I have tried Returning to older PRL's, I even tired install the above mentioned Foxfire add on. I have adjusted to Simple and Mob IP's (instantly get Metro warning) and Simple+Mob IP (can get threw 3 secure https before metro warning). Have also tried Foxfi, OpenGarden Tether, Easy Tether, and PDAnet.

I am at end of the research road...I need help!!!!! lol thanks guys

So for some reason I can tether perfectly fine with chrome on my tablet, but tethering on my laptop or PC gives me the metro tethering message. Does it work on my tablet since its android?

RedBeansnRice is right. They're looking at user agent strings and OS fingerprint. I'm on PRL 3030 using auto usb tether. I'm running Viper's Admired Legends with build.prop edit and got the T.O.S. warning. Installed user agent switcher in FF and set it to android. No more warning.

Typing this from my tethered lappy on Win7 because the router at the house is toast :) Lightning storm took it out yesterday:sad:

I'm going to try that lol

For some reason I used to get that same message on the browser when I connected to my school's wifi. I never knew how to fix it; it just eventually went away.
