Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] boot image help

he didn't say boot animation cuz the actual boot.img is something you dont want to mess with.

Thanks I'm on goodness rom debloated.and the boot up image is just the word android.so I would like to change it to something more nice looking.

easiest way like mentioned above Rom ToolBox does the trick nice n easy just be carefully with the Tablet animations they can give you a soft brick also you can go to app drawer goodness settings, and click on the Banner and download a boot animation from the list ..good luck ;)

He is talking about the bootanimation, i should know that's what i'm using

The boot animation for majority of the roms is a zipped folder called bootanimation.zip not boot.img on stock samsung roms the real boot animation is samsungani im not sure where you guys are getting boot animations from a specific important file which contains the kernel to our device called the boot.img im not being a jerk here but if your going to discuss something or ask for assistance try to be clear of what your trying to achieve and what files your looking for if your not sure how the file is called just give a brief description. we are here to help.

Edit: with that being said navigate to system/media and see if you guys have a zipped folder named bootanimation.zip if you dont you guys are using the stock animation method which plays qmg images. its fairly easy to get a stock system to use custom bootanimation.zip files instead of the qmg.

sorry about the confusion. what i meant was the the boot up image like when you turn your phone on like on factory roms it says metropcs or other roms have custom images at start upuntil the phone is actually on. well thats what i want to change.

Hi,

I have the same problem.

After I rooted and updated my phone to 4.2.2 the start up is some weird red hot mobile animation, its so ugly and the original samsung one is much better.

I have the same kind of files that you guys showed on the picture with the bootsamsung.qmg and the bootsamsungloop.qmg

I want to use the rom toolbox programme to install an animation.

I was wondering if basically you just delete the 2 bootsamsung files and then move the bootanimation.zip file to system/media in replace of them?... will that work?

qmg files are for stock touchwiz stuff, bootanimation.zip is what is used in custom roms.

the rom you are using has bootanimation.zip in system/media/ swap it out with one you like and youll be golden :)
