It also says "Windows cannot identify the device plugged into the SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device"

Wtf?

Im on windows 7 64 bit, my phone has been doing this ever since I got it on new years... I would have to restart the pc an keep trying... it eventually connects but this is still annoying.

How to fix??

Oh im on Black bean with the faux kernel if that matters...

Thanks in advance

Do you have an HP machine by any chance? If so you have a choice. Return the phone, or return the HP. I would the HP.

different ways to trouble shoot this prob, i would use a different usb port ,if u can buy a oem samsung galaxy s3 usb cable just incase yours is acting funky. i would uninstall drivers and look for updated drivers if no new drivers available then re-install previous drivers.

If you have adb setup make sure in Environment Variables in path you set the correct path to where your android-sdk-windows are locate, example: ;c:\android-sdk-windows\tools;c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools.

But airtioteclint is correct some HP machines are picky about certain phones and even with the Nexus phone just like 1 of my newHP machine. Everytime you plug it in the machine, it always ask to install the drivers.

But updating your sdk revision and API, your problem might be fix,and if you have google drivers install, un install them and install the metro pcs s3 drivers instead.

I don't have the adb thing ticked in the settings... an No I don't have an HP lol I have a custom build. I guess I'll find some alternative, thanks guys.

I tend to get this problem when I unplug the phone from the pc before unmounting it. (Right clicking the icon on bottom right and s choosing to remove hardware safely) had to reinstall drivers a couple of times, otherwise I just have to reboot the computer

Yes after a reboot on certain computer is a must, but you can also install Android Commander.
