Without the play store, you lose all of googles services. If Samsung thinks its going to replace google maps its going to have an abrupt wakeup call.
Android isnt going anywhere.
What happens when those "mainstream" consumers realize they cant use all of their already purchased content in the play store? They get really, really angry.
Once people get invested in one of the mainstream mobile economies, its really hard for any competitor to come in and gain any marketshare.
Thats why tizen is destined for low end phones in "select markets"
