Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Jellybean wont install.. :/

k0bun

Newbie
so i got the notification on my phone where i now have the 4.1.2 update available, and just like most people i immediately downloaded it and tried to install.

so i try to install it and looks like everything is normal. (shows the android guy with his stomach opened and looks like everything is going well)
the only problem is that every time i keep trying to install it, it stops at 28% and then shows the android guy on the ground with his stomach opened but a caution sign directly above it..

i tried factory resetting it, and unistalling all my apps.. any one know what the issue is?:confused::confused::mad::mad:

so disappointed.. :hmpf::hmpf:

....also, the failed message it gives me says "unable to update firmware. please visit samsung service center."

check your about phone and tell me what are you in? should be build 4.0.4 also a friend of mine from detroit which we call ricky bobby had a failed update status but when he went to check his phone's about he noticed he was on 4.1.2 and also the update for some strange reason didnt erase his root..... that lucky dog lol

the only thing ive done to my phone was root it and delete some of the metro apps i had.

Then you're good. The jellybean update has been available for us rooted users for almost a week now. Just look for Shabbypenguins metropolis thread, or return to stock thread. Also ldrifta's has one here too. (three to choose from, so nice) :)

is there any way i can manually do it? i keep getting the notification about the update, BUT IT KEEPS FAILING, its very frustrating. I contacted the samsung customer people for it and they keep telling me that there isnt a update for my phone and that i should just ignore it (i work at a metroPCS store and i have personally SEEN the 4.1.2) so that skank was no help... >.>
can anyone help me???

well since your still rooted u can just get mobile odin lite and install it on your phone and make sure u install the flash kernel then take the update.zip that shabby uploaded to his server and use mobile odin to flash the update manually.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899

ill edit post to link the update.zip in a bit

Edit:

untouched update.zip

http://www.shabbypenguin.com/OUDstuff/Samsung/Metro/R530M/Stock/MB2/update.zip

so the odin software will help me manually install a firmware image?

yes i referred u to the mobile version of odin since its dosn't require you to plug your phone to your pc via usb cable then putting your phone on download mode to flash the firmware on to your phone. keep in mind only works if your rooted.

I thought I read here, that OTA update to 4.1.2 will not work if any of the "bloatware" has been removed.
Mine was rooted, stock - and updated just fine (of course, lost root)

so i installed the mobile odin and found the kernel. only, i dont know what to do next.. sorry im a noob at this.. >.>

i did download the update.zip. do i extract it?

place the update.zip to your sd card then from there open mobile odin and select ota/update zip and look for that update .zip and select it. select wipe dalvik cache leave other wipe option unchecked then on the bottom select flash and let it works its magic ;)

Hello boys

n4zty the problem is Mobil Odin Lite. Not available to select ota/update zip, only in Pro version.

I can't find kernel in "update.zip" to update separated like you say.

Thx

ahh shoot thanks for the heads up ok seems that leaves two options if your rooted and if your not rooted that leaves one option lol

if your rooted and have either twrp or cwm recovery flash metropolis 1.2.0
or use nrmal odin to flash the update.zip i believe theres a thread on how to use odin on your pc.

if your not rooted and obviously dont have a custom recovery you must use odin on your pc to flash the update to your phone.

here this link will show ya how to use odin on your pc and flash everything thats flashable to our device.

http://androidforums.com/official-u...0m-return-stock-reset-your-flash-counter.html

also the mb2 tar file is actually the stock 4.1.2 metro pcs jelly bean update just the complete entire image.

so ya can try that out too.
