Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] move downloaded apps to external sd

11jjonn

Newbie
Prior to wiping, want to move my downloaded apps to external sd.
Problem: don't know where apps reside

Must I re-download every time I wipe??

You can back up your apps with apps like titanium backup or romtoolbox. When you've installed a new rom just download that one app and use it to restore the rest. If it's not there to restore then you're wiping too much. You only need to wipe data, cache, dalvik and system for installation of a new rom, and only cache and dalvik for updating a rom or installing a zip.

Wiping your internal is almost always uneccesary. Don't do it.

OK, here's the "Rest of the Story" -- thinking of "experiencing" Metropolis ROM. (I have Titanium Backup basic loaded)

Recommendation is to backup phone in recovery (CWM 6.1.0.5?).

Will this retain my downloaded apps? - or do I need to locate them, and separately save them to my External sd card?

Then, I'll be comfortable wiping & loading a new ROM

Peering through the fog (of my brain): You're suggesting to backup each app with Titanium, then wipe - Then re-install Titanium, & restore with IT ???

When you make a backup in recovery, it backs up your entire rom. Including all apps, data, contacts, etc... This is good to go back to in case something goes wrong but it won't help your new rom.

That's where titanium comes into play. It saves all that to your internal memory, so you can restore to your new rom. Making life easier for flashaholics like us. Lol
