So I upgraded from an esteem and I noticed when it reachs 100% it still stays charging but the esteems light would turn green and stay at "charged" is my phone overcharging? I dont want to strain tue battery..its been like this all night.

Check out Battery Doctor. It shows when the battery is quick , continuous and trickle charging. The app also has an alarm to let you know when it's finished charging.

One other thing I noticed after unplugging the phone it will show charged then within minutes it drops to 99% my battery is only lasting about 9 hours with medium use I have try what you said nailzer but I have to continue tweaking I guess

Something must be fishy, because my battery lasts easy longer, we're talking two to three times that, over a day(!), and I don't disable data related things. The only thing I did was turn on power saving mode in the pull down notifications bar...

Yeah I might return it maybe I have a faulty battery or something I unplugged like 20 minutes ago using it under wifi just texting and I'm down to 94% :(

theres 2 many things running in the background it dosnt need to be accessing your 4g data to be draining your battery ill take some pic of things i mean.

edit:
lets get down to details in what really drains battery. 4g data running the background, apps syncing and updating apps running in the background and even system apps running. display brightness too high? haptic feedback.

check your app manager then select running at top and u should see a list like this.

in conclusion we have 2 much metro bs running that we dont need for example that email exchange looks like that metro app that allows u to access any of your external emails through your phone not needed!!! the samsung updater thats a contreversal system app that i would not dare mess with unless other members in here can verify if its safe to remove. there are many others that can be removed and some are a mystery. Im sorry i must say this but ive always been against using apps to save you battery life i think its cheesy and worthless when u can do all of it manually by yourself even samsung in this case has provided us with a battery saving mode built into the phone.

Well bro I fell ya, with standby time this phone is damnnn amazing, but once you wake up the phone and use it your reaction will change from :D  :o :(.

Yeah haha for some weird reason I got almost 11 hours today with phone calls text and navigation so not bad I guess it's all about tweaking the right settings

thats the problem with big screen phones they suck the blood right out the battery my lg motion lasts all day without charging

seems phones are like women only the slim ones gets attention? :( well in that case i like my women thick so i have no prob buying a extended battery if i cant handle my battery consumption lol

i think with the jellybean update..something about standby time get fix because it was using a lot of juice somehow...i don't remember where i saw it tho

Here it is. The final "tally". I tested my OEM battery to see if I really needed to root or a big fat battery. I HIGHLY recommend downloading and using the free app Easy Battery Saver from the Play Store. I could have went longer but a day and a half of restricted use was enough.
