Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] [ROM][OFFICIAL]CarbonRom 4.3

It's not what I thought it was going to be, not bad, just not as customizable as BB7 .. Though I do love the camera ..

I wanna flash the camera (lol) over to bb7, but can't seem to locate the apk just yet ..

Hey Guys,

Just flashed over the Current version of the Stable Relese CARBON-JB-v1.7-d2mtr.zip

The problem I am having is that the GPS is stuck in searching. So I am just going to walk you through the process and you can tell me if anything I did was wrong

Created a backup of my stock ROM
Wiped Dalvik & Cache twice (I am paranoid)
Installed ROM
Installed GApps
Rebooted

Noticed GPS was stuck so I made sure it was pulling info from the NothAmerica GPS. Checked for a lock using GPS Status from the PLAY store and also checked to see if Google Maps would be able to grab a solid location. Nothing

I did also test the modems lj1, lj3, mb2, but this was after i noticed that my GPS was not working. Just wanted to make sure I didn't leave anything out.

Was hoping that there was a fix out there other than trying one of the nightly builds, as I truly enjoy this ROM.

Factory Reset wipe before flashing different ROMs. Wipe Dalvik & Cache after flashing gapps - just before reboot.

Modem has nothing to do with the GPS.

If GPS problem persists, then try this app

You know I did forget to do that cause I thought I had bricked my phone and was just happy to be able to get back into the recovery after flashing an incorrect rom. How the hell did I forget such an important step. Well going to go fix the error of my ways...

Just mentioned the modem cause I do IT support and I always ask "What has changed since it last worked?" So I figured to throw it in there

Forgetfulness happens. I'm good for it, too. :)

More information is good information. The kernel is responsible for BT & GPS. Samsung's GPS ain't exactly great, either. That's why you still might want to try the app. I'd stick with MB2 modem.

So I just got done with doing a complete re-install of the ROM.

Factory Reset the phone
Installed the new ROM
Installed GAPPS
Cleared Dalvik & Cache twice (Still paranoid)
Back on the MB2 modem (I know it still doesn't matter :))
Rebooted and still no GPS signal

Switched over to the LK_s3vzw_aosp_43-v6.4.zip displayed here and still no change to the GPS location.

I did use the GPS Status App and all I ever get is this

Going to make a backup of the current ROM with everything and go back to a clean Stock Rooted ROM then attempt another clean install of Carbon. If GPS works on the stock ROM could a dirty flash be a possible solution? I usually, see previous forgetfulness, only do fresh installs any downside to trying this?

I was having the same problem. Was running 1.7. Installed 20130528. GPS back and updated kernel to 6.4. Wipe everything including system. Install ROM , gapps wipe dalvik and cache. Reboot and set up phone. Run it for a while then install kernel. I,be been good to go since 0528 nightly and 6.4 kernel.

No problems with the 20130528 Nightly? MMS and all the other goodies are running fine in that? I just hate unfinished(alpha) releases "[AOSP][JB4.2.2]SuperAwesomeROM-v1.3014[BEATS][WIP][CM10.1.1.2.315231] - All works except BT, GPS, MMS/SMS, APPS, Volume, Calls, but the camera is working perfectly"

Nightly 6-20 is working great so far. It's very smooth. My BT is behaving itself, again.

I might continue to post d2 specific changes because their changelog is just plain everything and some people might not want to dig through it all.
