Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Root process not working

I have been trying to root my galaxy s3 for hours now. I have the drivers installed and I have the root file installed. I have rebooted my computer and phone after each failed try. When i go to root, it says "uid and gid should both be at 0..are they?"..I have no clue what that means, but i press yes. Then it just takes me back to the beginning. Can someone plz help me?

im really confused on what to do here. I've downloaded everything, but not sure what to do next..i see the instructions but im not seeing anything for root..do i need to install something on my phone?

i powered off then back on..ran the odin zip on the downloading screen..plugged in the usb..it added some drivers..then nothing happened..im just stock on the screen that says odin mode in red..nothing changed on my phone screen

First install odin on your computer.
Download the cmw tar file and put on ur pc.
Put your phone in download mode. (take out battery, put back in and press, home button, volume down, and power button, hold all three untill you see the download mode prompt. Press volume up to go forward.)
Open odin on your pc.
Plug phone in make sure you use the Samsung cord that came with phone.
You should see the com window in odin turn yellow.
In the pda window of odin navigate to the cwm tar.
Press start and let it flash recovery onto your phone.
When that's done, put the root file onto your sd card.
Boot into recovery. (same way you booted into download mode but with volume up instead of down)
Flash the root file.
Done. :)

I think yiu forgot to download this one. Flash it in recovery to get root. It was new to me too. Im used to rooting first and then recovery. This one is recovery and then root. :)

yes..i was just gonna ask where is the root file..lol..i got the PASS message..im gonna do the rest right now

so can i take out my sd card and put it in my laptop to put the root file on it..since i need to remove the battery?..i dont see any other way

my phone dosent have an sd card..so im trying to use my card from my lg esteem..and when i try to move the file..it says this disk is write protected and wont allow me to

Well it's been awhile since I used cwm but I think you gotta choose install from sdcard. Now finding the file depends on where you downloaded it to. It should be in the download folder, thats the default of most browsers.

YEESSS...SUCCESS!!..you were right..it was in downloads..idk how you guys call this kinda stuff easy..that was way to stressful..lol..tyvm for all your help..i know have root access..you are the man!

Lol. Glad to hear it. Now I strongly suggest you install quickboot from google play and boot back into recovery and make a backup of your current system. You might even want to copy it to your pc since you don't have a sdcard. Enjoy man. Lots of good roms and themes await you.

i read up on that rom early this morning..pretty much the main reason i wanted to root..im goin for it :)

you will not be disappointed. Make sure to read the posts in the thread. if you have the flicker problem, disable hw overlays in developer options. For some reason, no matter how many times it is said, people seem to miss that fix.

ok will do..also, is this rom safe to use now..meaning are all the mosts the bugs worked out..i dont have the knowledge like some ppl on here so when i run into problems like data not working or rebooting..these things leave me without a working phone for days..lol
