Root [MetroPCS] How to Install SDhack on 12b update

frosthax1

Android Enthusiast
im going to take excerpts from other devs and give credits mixed with my solution for getting sdhacks installed properly and rooted on 12b update

Notice:THIS IS ASSUMING YOU HAVE FIRMWARE 10I!if you have 12b already downgrade to 10i yoll find another guide on this forum for that.

Step One:Factory Reset

Step Two:Fill out your google info but uncheck all boxes!

Step Three:
Make sure you go to settings security and click unknown sources and click usb debugging in developer options before you continue

Step Four:
All In One Root & Recovery
For Firmware 10i:
Root and 2nd-init CWM Recovery - Android Creations (only use the instructions for 10i please)

Step Five:Go to settings storage and unmount sd card then Download Aparted From the google play store open it and give it supersu permission

once open press the add button twice,1st partition should be fat32 of your desired size and the 2nd one should be ext4 your desired size(data goes in ext4 so make the size count) hit menu button and select apply changes to format and wait till completed.

Step Six:
Grab ota rootkeeper from the google store ,open it and grant it super access then press temp unroot create backup option and then find the update install on your phone and update

Step Seven: once on 12b open ota rootkeeper again, and select restore root, then go and find supersu in your apps and open it.it may ask to install binaries.if it does allow it on normal mode.itll fail the first time, reopen and repeat process,it should say successful the second time, check to make sure ota rootkeeper says all checks at this point,if so congrats you have root.
Reboot to be safe for Step Eight!

Step Eight:
once all this is done download this
http://oudhitsquad.com/pressy4pie/F6/F6Utilities2.apk

once this app is installed open it and only select the option sd card hack let it install grant it superuser rights and once it dissappears reboot.

once it reboots it should have fixed itself but it erases everything else so put in your google info and get ota rootkeeper from the store again to be safe, open it and make sure it still says your rooted and everything, and check storage to see if your card partitions showing in internal as it should.if all of this is working then redo the f6 root recovery tool and go thru its instructions again to make sure you have supersu and all the fixings again.it should have no problems reinstalling.

Thanks to pressy4pie and gametheory for their suggestions and wonderful apps along with me determined to get this working on 12b without failing :) please thank this as it works,as it took me days to figure out the right process

id also recommend after this to use game theories debloater for the f6

(caution be careful of flashing other stuff like the freedom kernal.it will break the sdhack and possibly trigger more errors than you want)-ƒR()

I'd appreciate it if you just change the links so that they point to my threads instead of posting my download links.

the first one i can do the second one im afraid people wont read and try to do your method on 12b instead whitch doesnt always work,no offense, trying to also not cause confusion and have people do the process in the wrong way whitch wont allow the sdhack to install properly.Example installing sdhacks on 10i and then trying to update gives you a brick phone do to the custom recovery it adds on etc. hence why i also split up pressypies tutorial instead of linking to that thread.still mad props to you both.
i used to do guides and mad research for hacking psps back in the day,but other things i do research on and such i like to share my input.keep doing what you guys do

You have to remove my direct download link.

You have to remove my direct download link.

ok i changed it with a memo to only pay attention to the 10i instructions.i hope pressy doesnt have an issue for his directlink to the f6 utilities though because thats very important to split according to my instructions especially otherwise people will screw up their phones, not trying to be arguemintive,i just dont want people doing the wrong order of steps is all,not trying to brick peoples phones as pressy says in his release it is a very dirty hack

After I did all this my recovery included in the root is gone, how do I get it back?

once it reboots it should have fixed itself but it erases everything else so put in your google info and get ota rootkeeper from the store again to be safe, open it and make sure it still says your rooted and everything, and check storage to see if your card partitions showing in internal as it should.if all of this is working then redo the f6 root recovery tool and go thru its instructions again to make sure you have supersu and all the fixings again.it should have no problems reinstalling.

you need to read careully next time buddy.btw the recovery isnt gone and chances are your roots still there.it just removed supersu and ota rootkeeper is all but the sd hack makes its own recovery holding volume down and power button when in off mode (brings up factory reset mode but does not actually reset nomore,go thru the pompts and instead of resetting it brings you to the recovery that sd hacks installed) hope that clears it up for you buddy ;)

After installing this is there any tweaks that won't break the hack? Noon this is the first phone I've rooted.

i mentioned the only one ive found so far that keeps it if you followed this right and its working besides redoing the f6 root recovery to reput supersu on there and all is the debloater by Gametheory.his new rom even though awesome and his modified kernals and any modified kernals will break it however.in the process of letting pressy know what works and hate to say it but at this time hes the only one that may be able to find a workaround with gts rom and other stuff.the reason i beleive it doesnt work with gts rom is because of the modified kernal and the modified recovery options.both things are stable but not together or they cause conflicts.so dont flash the rom or anything not recommended unless its been verified to work.keep in mind all this is still a wip and anything not verified to work is at your own risk.you could brick your phone.happy modding and will keep you informed ratburn

Okay thanks I flashed bravia 2 not really sure if it made a difference with the graphics but my partition is working great.

Well I got it working but it took a couple extra steps. This might have been because I had 12B already rooted with SuperSU from trevers thread.

So I installed F6Utilities2.apk. When I ran it it hung up. I let it sit for a while then finally backed out of it. Opened it again and it asked for super user permission and I granted it. I tried running SD Card Hacks and it opened a dialog then closed it real quick, restart and nothing changed. I checked SU log and it told me it was a pro feature, so I paid the 2.50 for pro. I tried it again and had the same results but this time the log read "Can't open '/storage/sdcard0/f6Utilities1/recovery/pressy4pie-cwm-data.lok': no such file or directory".

I used ES file explorer and found that there was no /recovery directory in the /f6Utilities1 folder so I created it. I then unzipped the contents of SDHACKS.ZIP I found in the /F6Utilities1 folder to the /recovery folder. Ran it again and it took.

Working great, except I have an OOOLD SD card (Probably class 2 or 4) so it's a bit slow. I've got a new 32G class 10 card on the way though so that should make this phone great. Wonder if I can just copy the contents of my old cards partition to the new cards partition I make. We'll see.

Thanks for the writeup Frost, it was helpful. Not sure why I'm the only one who seemed to have this problem. I had the same results just now when I tried it again to see what SU was reporting so it's repeatable on my device. I'd guess it's how I rooted.

yea that is probably my bad. must have made a typo or something but good skills there thats what i would have told you to do.

also guys read this here

ioink hmm im a bit blonde so i guess i didnt think to flash it in a working recovery but if that works then great.i started getting the issue you mentioned after flashing to gts rom,so my phone will no longer work on any method nomatter what i do.i erased data sd card downgrade full upgrade recovery then downgrade etc but something is sticking thats preventing me from running the app now.i would love to see if this recovery fix could work thru gts rom but im kinda pooped from trying this and having my phone crash so im just sticking to link2sd and gts rom atm since its stable atm like that unless i hear more positive results on that end

pressy you should have your own dedicated server and i wish you well in your adventures

Cannot get the SD Card Hack to work followed it to the letter. 8 times so far. any help would be a great help.

What are the symptoms? Are you rooted? Does the f6Utilities1.APK install? Can you run it?

Did you see my post above. Could be you need to manually extract the file. Make sure you have this:
/storage/sdcard0/f6Utilities1/recovery/pressy4pie-cwm-data.lok

If not you can extract it from the SDHACKS.ZIP found in the /storage/sdcard0/f6Utilities1. I'd suggest moving the entire zips contents to that folder. Then run it again.

esfileexlorer works great for this.

Rooted. Got a f6Utilities2.APK that does not do much but a quick flash on the screen and poof gone. I also had it partitioned but since i gave up its totally fat32.

If you're in a boot loop, that means the partition is most likely formatted wrong. Make sure your 2nd partition is formatted as EXT4. You can leave the 1st as Fat, but 2nd has to be EXT4.

i would also like to note if you do have an ext4 as 2nd and its doing that or it boots up and you get a decrypting page on boot what you do is this (ps hack did work its just the data is messed up) power off phone.when off hold volume down and power whitchll take you into factory restore mode.press power twice to accept.dont worry as this screen doesnt actually reset you nomore but brings you into the recovery.from here go to advanced and look at the very bottom that says format data and data media, choose yes and let it format then reboot.sometimes this works,as its removing the data that got stuck in the internal and when you boot back up you shouldnt get the message nomore and show the right storage you wanted in the storage in settings.i hope this tidbit helps

What does this actually do?

Does this let you trick android and google play into thinking your micro SD is your internal storage so you can download larger games?

I'm trying to find out how to do that because the F6's storage is so tiny I can't download GTA San Andreas and many other games.

My phones already rooted 12b though.

It makes your SD card the actual storage of the phone,
