Root [MetroPCS] [MOD] [Beta] SdCard Memory Hack

Can you restore your phone to the way it was, after flashing this?
no
Omg thank you!!!! Been waiting for this!
Pressy4Pie

Should both FAT32 and EXT4 be formatted as Primary partition?

Also should the FIRST factory reset be done in the OS or in the recovery or vol down and power? I rooted my phone already.

Also do you think if we used something like Win32DiskImager could we create a backup img of the original card and burn this img to another card if the original ever gets corrupted?

If so do you think we wanted to move from a 32gb card to a 64gb card we could just burn the original 32gb img then use a partition tool to recover the rest of 32gb?

Thanks again!

if you moved from a 32 to 64 just backup with nandroid as usual and restore on a preformatted sdcard

Check it out...do I need to reformat the SD card even though my 32g sdcard is formatted as such with fat32 and 4gig as ext4?

no you'll be fine just make sure to format the ext4

I went to stock flashing "MS50010i_00.kdz", then made a factory reset, then rerooted it, then installed "F6Utilities_v1.2.apk"...
When I tried to flash recovery "pressy4pie-Recovery-SDHACK.zip":
E: [-] Failed to map aboot.
E: Error loki-ifying the boot image.

you need to be on E firmware i believe? loki only works with e aboot

I rooted and installed recovery and I'm on the I firmware. Is this recovery different than the old recovery? I haven't tried to flash the one from this thread yet.

well to install this mod you need that kernel, but you wont be able to flash things from recovery if your are on i firmware.

you can try go to ADVANCED>TOGGLE LOKI SUPPORT. it may flash after that but you need to restore to E aboot.

I did all steps and I looked at the memory but it was still showing what the phone originally had for memory. Stupid me thinking it was a bad file or something went wrong with my partition, took out the sd card formatted it and re-downloaded the files. Started the process again and went to flash the zips, and it is saying my sd card wont mount.

pressy4pie,

I rooted my MetroPCS F6 phone using Trevor Philips method listed here. This method needed the I firmware.

http://androidforums.com/metropcs-optimus-f6-all-things-root/823131-guide-rooting-f6-recovery.html

I get into recovery the apk included in that thread.

So from what I am reading to do this hack.

1. reset phone
2. get on E firmware somehow (anyone know how I would go from I firmware to E firmware?)
3. root the phone using a different method?
4. install LOKI CWM
5. reset phone
6. apply two zip flashes above with the specially formatted sdcard

Are these steps correct before I do this on my phone?

Thanks.

Uh yea something like that. I'd just flash the e about image

Sounds like you formatted your sd card backwards maybe

I attempted this and bricked my phone (got it back working thanks to the tools)

My steps:
1. Format SD card (8gb) 4gb FAT32 and 4GB EXT4
2. Factory Reset Phone
3. Inserted SD card into phone
4. Using Flashify (App), installed boot and recovery zips
5. Rebooted Phone.
6. Bricked :/ asking me for some encrypted password

I tried all the steps again and got to the same point. Am I missing a step?

If it's asking for password it can't find the /data partition so you formatted incorrectly

I'm reformatting with FAT32 first (4GB) and then EXT4 (4GB). I had it backwards because the first time failed.

Do you use a program to install the boot/recovery?

Thanks for the help btw, your awesome and I'm learning a lot about this phone.

I used my old cwm to install my new cwm

I installed your F6 Tools, loaded that Recovery, rebooted into the Recovery and attempted to install the Recovery that you have posted here, but the Android Alien keeps dying giving an error.

I'm not sure of the correct way to load these 2 files. Any detailed steps for us noobs?

Thanks.

did the error say something about loki?

I had not yours but other CWM installed.

Flashed your new CWM and your new boot thru that CWM.

Cannot boot into CWM by Vol Down+Pwr, brings me Factory Reset screen.

External SD still is external everywhere.

Tried to custom install your CWM w/loki_flash from ADB, got "access denied".

Other than that, no issues, no insufficient memory errors.

to get to recovery you have to push power a few times

I've had all the same errors posted and through various methods got around them, but I've had no luck getting this to work, each time I've completed it my internal storage still shows as 1.27G. I eventually totally bricked my phone but managed to restore it (not easy), I lost root, recovery, even CWM. I'm now at the point where I basically have a brand new phone on the "i" SW with root access, but can't get this to work for me. I've even tried formatting everything while in CWM (which got me to the brick). If anyone comes up with a solution, a step, a patch, or figures out which dumb setting is causing this. I'm not sure if there's something a bit more detailed in the methods to follow the steps for this patch, anyone with any ideas let me know and I'll give it a try. As of now I've tried every posted method I've come across, except using ADB and that's because I'm not familiar enough with it without running it via a windows script, and not comfortable experimenting with it yet. The EVO was SO much simpler damn it. I'll be trying more things and sequences while away, and will let you know if I come across something missed.
A Few questions I'd pose, Is this best to do all while in the CWM Recovery as I have been doing? and Between the steps, flashing the files from CWM, should it be rebooted before flashing the 2nd file? Lastly Was your reset done directly with the CWM Factory Reset? I'll probably test these myself while waiting to see if anyone has a solution.

Just got a new error while trying to download anything from the play store =

"APP NAME HERE" could not be downloaded due to an error. (Error retrieving informationfrom server. [RPC:S-3])

EDIT: Resolved by clearing cache and Data on Play Store app
