I'm not sure what you mean. Yes there are SD card restrictions in KK, but they apply to the mounted partition. I am bouncing around the various roms right now trying to find the one that works best for my needs, however I have been using link2sd on every one. I keep intending to use the hack to fuse the ext4 partition to data and have it show my free space, but link2sd has been easier while testing and I have no troubles. I am using it (bought the full version) and have it installing my new software with link2sd automagically. For some reason some things still go to the internal storage, so it is slowly dwindling as well. Haven;t figured out why, but i'll try the other method to attach it and maybe ignore that, lol
If you want the best possible combination for kitkat (at the time of writing this) check out my guide I explain it all there. Otherwise you'd be better off using xperion and freedom kernel for more performance.
