Root [MetroPCS] Quick help, question.

So I finally got my phone to a state I like.

I've partitioned my 32 gig SD card using AParted leaving me with
1) 4g FAT32 Partition
2) a 38g EXT4 Partion.

I want to take some of the space from the EXT4 partition, and move it to the FAT 32 position without having to format the whole SD, which I could do if I have do,t really would prefer to that that.

Thanks, I've also got an emulator on my phones, its rooted, and ADB on my computer

Process (Since I know many are having problems)
  • Get to firmware 10i.
  • If you start 10i your good
  • If you're running 12b there's a post around here which will allow you do downlod a cleand KDZ File + The LG Tools + LG Drivers for the phone.
  • Install Drivers + LG Toolds[
  • Make sure install external
  • sources is one ++ UsB Debugging are enabled
  • Use the LG tools to install 10i firmware. One of the contributors who did most the work, forget his name but the site is AndroidCreations -
  • Check out his website, on it he has a 1 click root for 10i.
  • Make sure you are on 10i, and follow the instructions, open the self running script and follow instructions. It will do it's own thing every once and a while asking you to hit a key.
  • You now have root on 10i.
  • Download Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper & Root Checker.
  • Make sure you have root. Then use OTA Rootkeep to preserve root
  • Use the OTA software update to upgrade to 12b.
  • Use OTA root keeper to give you back root.

At this point you should have firmware 12b, rooted (some key apps may have gone away, I would download OTA Rootkeepers, Root Checker, Root Broswer).
[*]You should also get PressYforPies f6Utilities2.apk
[*]Use that program to install CWM recovery. You can also use that apk to restart into recovery. DONT USE THE SD CARD HACK - I havt figured out how to make it work.

Last your going to need a program called AParted, from play store.
Go to storage and click UNMount SD Card.
Go to APart, press the green (+) button twice.
Set the first partition FAT32 size of your choose, but at least a few gigs.
Make the second partition EXT4 that holds the rest of the space.

Now you can install files, and aps to the second partition of the SD car, the first partition won't get filled much as all.


I'll go back and fix this all later, just wanted to get a rough draft

Will that allow me to change the size w/o reformat?

One of the problems I seem to be finding is even though I have a ton of free space in my EXT4 parition, I can just take that space, add it to Fat32, and format just that data turning it into FAT 32 and add it to the original space

why don't you try it instead of asking? It is free and takes 2 minutes to find and install.
 
Hello, I have the exact same problem but different request. I would like to unmount and format my entire 16gb sd card then repartition it. I gave way too much space (10GB) to the ext4 (Internal Storage) and left me with 5 gigs of ext sd card. I can't unmount the ext4 (2nd partition) part of my sd card so Aparted wont let me format the entire thing. Any help is much appreciated

Ok figured out how to unmount and reformat/resize sd card partitions. All I had to do was turn phone off, take the micro sd card out of phone, turn phone back on, open Aparted, insert micro sd card, when it read the card i was able to delete both partitions and re created them with preferred sizes (2400/Ext4 1351/fat32) now I am once again, happy. What will be next?
