Root [MetroPCS & T-Mobile] [GUIDE] Howto Root LG Optimus F3

Step 2 says: Make sure Media sync (MTP) is checked

However on my T Mobile F3 I checked "LG software" under USB connection type
to get my phone rooted.

Many thanks! Everything else worked as the guide presented except in this step. My phone rooted and now onward to partitioning the sd card...

Did the root happen to say it failed before you tried the lg software option?
Also im using a windows 8 computer but mine will get almost done then suddenly say something like failed-f for failed.
Im going to try to download the safeboot again, see if a file was missed in the download.

Hi im super new to rooting and it seemed pretty easy as i read yout post but now im having some problems... (im using a windows 8 computer, root of my problem maybe?)
1St my fine when i unzip the file it only shows
File (folder)
Install.sh x2
Install x2 (one of each has a blank page as the icon and the other two have a pic of gears on it)

2nd as its finishing up it suddenly fails (it tells me "failed- f for failed" something like that, im not near my computer to get the exact phrase)

Am i missing something? I followed.the instructions to a T and i hve the right model as well as tmobile.

Thanks for the help!

any help would be greatly appreciated btw there is no other post on how to unlock this particular phone soo your basically my only hope.

going strong on 8 hours of this project.

I have tried to root the phone and with saferoot, its done. Also tried it using motochopper. When i Ran RootChecker, it says Congrats, this devis has root access. But no sim is getting detected. One point - this is a brand new phone and never used before (Virgin US carrier)

I've never had a reason to dig into the OS of a phone before but I went an bought a shiny new SD card for my Virgin Optimus F3 so I can move apps to it. Apparently, the only way to do it is to root the phone so I've decided to take the plunge.

This is a really great forum and from what I've read here, the process seems to be pretty straightforward. I do have one issue in setting things up.

The instructions say to check the box for Media Sync (MTP) IN Developer Options. I don't have that box on my phone. What am I missing?

What you're missing is that you're following the rooting instructions for a MetroPCS phone when you have Virgin Mobile. Try here-
