Root [MetroPCS] to get rooted B12

yes, agree, everyone on firmware "e" or "i" could get easy root on Trevor's thread, then flash rooted 12b rom and then flash Freedom Kernel to be at top

I'm not responsible if you mess up your device this method worked for me use at your own risk

Factory Reset would be advised before doing this if your B12 is bugged from flashing anything

1) Kdz Back To Firmware I [Requires you to put phone in Download Mode]
2) Used saferoot to root firmware I
3) Installed Google Keyboard
4) Used lte2 recovery app to get into recovery
5) Flashed zip from this link below
http://androidforums.com/metropcs-o...9-wip-rom-flashable-rooted-12b-stock-rom.html

One more thing this ROM has no keyboard thats why i added step 3

Thanks To Angelblade for the rom

Should be rooted 12B

Update: Do not factory reset while on this rom
If you Factory Reset and it starts going haywire just KDZ back to firmware I

I will edit this post if i am able to find a way to root B12

I tried kdz once to try and recover my f6, froze and hard bricked it. very much wanna downgrade back to 10i. This phone is very funny about any modding...???

Well, it was most likely on my part, yes. but was in a soft brick and kdz failed, than hard bricked....successfully recovered other phones a few times with kdz, but this phone is scary!

its the same its just named download mode
to go into this mode just
power off or take out battery
hold vol buttons + plug in usb from computer to phone

also use type 3GQCT SmartPhone
i personally use KDZ_FW_UPD.exe for kdz flashing
just make sure to read up on kdz'ing this phone so you do everything right

If I don't flash the GT kernel, do I need to install google keyboard? And can I do factory reset?

I can add a new keyboard to it. And a new launcher
Just for you guys!

Update coming. Also, the post was updated as well.

Will most likely attempt the kdz flash this weekend. phone was softbricked last time I tried kdz. errord out towards the last part of the flash unplugged it.... than hard bricked. Used same kdz file listed here. At least as far as i can tell

I am a major noob. Is there an easy step by step way of rooting 12b? I am going to see if I can figure out the steps you posted. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have never plugged my phone into my laptop before.

A few successful kdz downgrade stories would be great!

assuming you can find an image (I found mine a while back, and it took me a while so I don't have the link anymore) KDZ is pretty reliable. You are after all using official LG tools to install official LG firmware. Just make sure you follow the instructions for installing the KDZ properly.

I got this phone from a friend who never did that to it and I can't get it to install its drivers to my old netbook running Vista, I've used the same netbook for years just to mess up with various phones, including another lg device, a pretty old one. I have installed drivers from the lg official site, from this forum, from xda and nothing makes this phone get recognized by my netbook. Any idea or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. After all I may be looking in the wrong place cause I have not owned an lg phone for some time. It had already the 12b update which I'm willing to loose by downgrading. :-)

Kdz is official lg software?
