MHL Adapter Group Buy

Well it appears that the SGSII doesn't come with an MHL adapter so I am probably going to buy a couple of hundred and could offer them cheaper for the guys on the forums. I just wanted to get an idea of how many people would be interested and what price would be good for the group buy. Stores at the moment currently have them at around

I'd get it from disti, sorry I help run a cable company for hifi cables and accessories.what price do I need to try and work to?

There are micro USB to HDMI cable adaptors, but the GSII can use a new, MHL version which is special because it can be used with future TVs to charge the phone while playing a video into the TV. Amazingly, the video is uncompressed 1080p too.

so let me get this straight. If i buy this cable, i can stream content to my HDTV?

not stream, you can use your HDTV as your phone screen, so unless i am wrong you can then play games/angry birds on a 40" telly!
Not sure how your touch screen would work, but if you combine it with a bluetooth keyboard/mouse you have a full pc!

Well now I am really confused. If I go along with this then the MPEG4 videos that the SGSII captures will play on my Sony Bravia 60" TV which does not support MPEG 4 just MPEG2. Is this right? If thats right I'll buy one all right but there has to be a catch where the Sony TV is concerned as the DNLA wont work with it.
Cheers

Basically with that adapter as far as your TV is concerned you phone could be a DVD drive, a set top box, an xbox, all it does is play whats coming in from its hdmi input, regardless of codec, type, etc.

i'm interested to - although i hope the cable is more than a few feet long else my eyesight playing angry birds that close to my HDTV is going to be fun....!!!

You'd need a hdmi cable as well, cos this is just an adaptor.

ahh, gotcha....no doubt the HDMI cable is not included in the box either... i guess i will find that out tomorrow...

after some number crunching, it looks like I could do them for about 19.99. no margins in these things. Indeed a HDMI cable is also needed as this is merely an adapter, these are due into stock 1st June.

whats the difference between between MHL and micro usb to hdmi adapters?
eg (ebay links)

cos that looks & sounds like the same idea but is very cheap!

the whole idea of the MHL adapter is that it allows you to charge the phone at the same time as providing TV out, so if this adapter has a double output, one usb and one hdmi it would be worth it cos it can keep your phone charged at the same time, otherwise i would just get this adapter off ebay (as long as it works :-D)
