Help Mhl adapter settings

Have you got a power supply to the adapter. i believe most of these adapters only work when plugged in to a usb power supply (our phone charger should work)

Upon looking at the battery levels of the device, I noticed even though the phone says its being charged, the battery percentage keeps decreasing slowly even when the power is connected to the MHL adapter. I think it just maybe a fault adapter. Any other thoughts?

are you plugged into the wall or a computer, i believe a wall charger charges faster so maybe try that. (usb on a computer output a lower voltage, i think)

wall charger, I Get power from the wall charger mini usb directly to the phone but when connected to the MHL adapter, it doesn't power the phone.
 
That is in fact normal. If you read some of the posts on MHL adapters from Aug-Oct you'll see it takes a lot of juice to power the external display. The stock charger is about 700mA from memory. The only way around it is to a higher capacity Micro USB charger. Same voltage but more mA output available. For me I don't do the MHL external display often enough to worry about another charger just live with it. But you may have a different perspective. But there is nothing wrong with the setup you have.
 
I just bought a MHL adapter and once I plug it in WiFi gets disabled (Cellular signal doesn't seem to be effected). I have tried and tried and get the same result.
I have looked around and found others with similar issues but no solutions.

edit: seems to be quite common problem. Have tried a different HDMI, different TV and different charger - same result.

Why issue a feature if there's not enough juice to run it???? Obviously video, movie and online web streaming is redundant now!

Out of interest what length of cable to the TV are you running OP??? mine is 5m HDMI 1.3. Just wondering if that has anything to do with it. (grasping at straws) Also which version of droid? I'm on 2.3.4.
 
To those of you who are having problems, are you using an official Samsung MHL adapter or a third party adapter?
 
Fwiw, I got a super cheap cable type one from Ebay and plugged a genuine Samsung micro USB wall charger into it...it seems to charge just fine.

Third party, I don't know how significant of a difference that could make, perhaps the issue is with the charger that the phone comes with that probably doesn't output enough power for the MHL adapter to work.

3rd party also, I don't know what difference that would make however.

I found a forum a couple of days ago with someone with the same issue on a official adapter (although there are ones out there that say "official" but aren't)

I upgraded to 2.3.6 and its just the same.
 
A third party adapter can be the problem, for obvious reasons, especially if it's a cheaply made product.

I actually purchased an official Samsung MHL adapter today as I'd rather fork over the money for an official product and make sure it would work from the get go. I'd rather buy the thing once then pay more in the end by trying to save a few bucks on a unapproved product. There are exceptions of course.

I haven't experienced any problems with the official adapter at all; it automatically picks up the signal, Data/Wifi connections work as well.

It sounds like the adapter is faulty as everything else works. Either that or an HDMI cable is at fault.

I suspected thats the problem! - The adapter was
