Mhl not working with note 2

Hi all, recently purchased a mhl adapter for my note 2, all connected up properly, the phone chargrs but I don't get the media connected message and no display on tv, thought it might be the adaptor so ordered a different one, still the same so I am confused! The model numbers of the adapters are- EPL-3FHUBEGSTD & ET-H10FAUWEGWW, both are apparently compatible with note 2 and both are genuine I believe. I am using a genuine samsung travel charger. I tried the first adapter I brought on my friends gs3 and exactly the same problem? Any help would be appreciated;)

If they are the official Samsung ones, they are 11 pin connectors. The second one (ET-H10FAUWEGWW) is the MHL 2.0 adapter made for the S4. It allows more power to the cable and doesn't need an external power source. And Samsung's official site lists both of these models as being 11-pin adapters.

So, you believe them to be 'official'. Now I question on whether you got knock off models. Were they from a reputable seller or trusted source?

I had a handful of similar ones from CH retailer (ebay sells the same for under $10) and even so they looked official, those were obvious knock offs and I was only able to make it work using the 5pin to 11pin adapter from my remote MHL converter. And even with that adapter I had to push it all the way in, worried I'm going to break my micro-usb port. Coincidentally, MHL 2.0 adapter I tried with S4 didn't work without external power. Monoprice (re-branded DiGiDi) cradle I tested had no issues, but I had to use phone naked without a case to fit it in.

I guess the bottom line would be if it was the real product, it would be working as advertised. If it's a knock-off, the OP will probably need an 5-pin to 11-pin adapter to see if that works (and based on what info is provided, it most certainly sounds like a knock-off).

Thanks for replys every one, sorry its been a while. Have now tried both adapters with a 5 to 11 pin adapter and still no joy!! Might just get a allshare cast hub now as im having no luck with mhl adapter!! Thanks again

Sorry to hear that it did not work for you. Sounds like the cables you got are defective (especially if you tried it on GS3 with the same results).

Another thing you can try is make sure the TV is on with the correct input selected. Make sure everything is attached to the MHL adapter (plugged in power supply and HMDI cable to TV) first. Power down and power on the Note 2 (on it's own, not connected). Then when the Note 2 is fully booted and working, connect the MHL adapter and see if that works.

Hi check your hdmi cable connection heads for corrosion.

At first mine didnt work, switched over the heads from adapter to tv and now it works perfect.
