Help Mic Not Working on Droid Eris

Hi everybody. I just made this account so I'm pretty new on the forum and I don't know if somebody's already asked this question. Anyway, I'm having trouble with my Droid Eris. The mic has randomly stopped working, like when I receive a phone call I can hear whoever I'm talking to but they cannot hear me. This problem has just recently come up a couple of days ago. I've tried turning it off and on and taking the battery out while the phone is still on, but nothing seems to fix it. My phone has been running Firmware Version 2.1 for quite sometime now though, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I've had the phone for a bout a year and half now and am scheduled for an upgrade on 9/29. If someone could provide me with some answers or advice it would be much appreciated.

This sounds like the silent call bug. It's a common issue with the stock Eris. The only solution I know of is to root the phone and install a custom ROM. Check out the all things root section for more information.
