Help Micro SD card problems

ok so i am having a problem with my HTC Ineradicable s. i insert the SD card and start up the phone. but when i go to settings > SD & phone storage.

when im in that
total space: unavailable
available space: unavailable
mount SD card and Erase SD card are grayed out

i have tried everything i could find on the threads but nothing works. i have tried multiple sd cards. i have tested those sd cards in other phones and they work fine but not in the htc, please help

Assuming the card isn't larger than the phone can handle (up to 32GB), the SD slot on the phone may be bad. If you're familiar with Linux (or know someone who is), download a terminal app and try to mount the card manually.
