Yes. When you get it you will have to format it using your computer as fat32. When that is done power down your phne , pull the battery and put the SD card in above where he sim is. Power your phone back up and your done.

If you are going to sideload media from a PC anyway then what's the difference where it gets formatted?

I did exactly that, formatted on a PC, then loaded up my 32 gig card.

You can format it on the phone but it might take a few tries before it goes through with out errors. The PC in my opinion is the best bet. I would also not use the quick format for the first time.

There was another report (John Galt) of the same thing. He recommended formatting on the PC for the same reason. He also said ... it takes about 70 minutes to format.

What I can't understand is why would someone not just format the card using the built in format utility. My philosophy in doing it through the phone itself, it gets formatted "Androids" way. At least that's how I format my micro sd's that will be used in an android phone (Shruggs).

When I got my new 64 gig card and popped it in my phone straight from the package, I had to use the format option that is built into the phone. It was then the sd card was recognized. :)

If there's a benefit of formatting an sd card on a computer, and not the android phone, I'm unaware of this benefit. Like I said, I just use the phone to format my sdcards and have had no known issues.

If there is a benefit to using a computer, let me know. :) I'm always willing to learn. :)

It really doesn't matter, a formatted card is a formatted card. The one place a computer can be helpful is if the memory card somehow develops a error windows built in error checking utility can often save your butt.
