Micro SD, G-Note doesn't display actual size. Why

Hi I just bought sandisk 32gb microsd card yesterday for my Samsung Galaxy Note. Quite bizarrely, Under Setting> Applications> Manage Applications> third left tab of "ON SD CARD", the bottom of screen only shows as below

253MB Used 11GB Free ,

which both make up only 12.25GB.

So where have my balance =32-12gb =20GB, go to?:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Much grateful if kind souls shed light on noob like me! Thanks a NOTE!

If you have an SD card reader (your Android phone might work, not sure), check the partition size in Windows.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Manager in the side bar. Then see if your SD shows up there. If there look like there are several sections on it, that just means it was formatted at the wrong size. Just delete the partition (make sure you back it up first!) and then make a new partition roughly 32~ GB. If it looks like there is only one section, the card might be a fake (its not like it hasn't happened before).

There are a lot of fake 32GB SD cards floating around in Ebay if that's where you got it. Good for you that you got 16GB (you get roughly 13GB out of it depending on formatting), others paid for a 32GB card and got 4, or even 1GB.

Hi! Just done a rather "thorough" probe on the class 6 sandisk card's authenticity, i got 7.5mbps on average on writing speed though no a full run as it takes 1hour or so to complete. So does this indication fall under norm?

Yea, i just also discovered under Settings> Storage> First row (SD Card), Total Space: 29.71GB
Available Space: 29.42GB (With some apps transferred in it, reasonably acceptable right?)

So, conclusion..... which is whic... *shrug*:o
Thanks for your time to help solve my Q!

Is the Note laid out so that a portion of internal memory is the "internal" SD card? If so, that's what is showing in your app manager.

That's correct, on mine it shows the internal storage in that section, and not the SD card details. Since the Note has 16 gbs of internal storage, it would make sense that only 11 GB is free. For example my internal storage in that same section says 6.3 GB used and 4.8 GB free. Which equals the 11.1 GB of total free storage the OP is showing.

My SD card doesn't show up in that section either, it will only show up under "Storage" in settings.
