Help Micro SD with HTC Desire

leeda

Lurker
Hi I've only ever had Nokia mobiles before and always used the phone with sd card as a portable storage device. It's always been super easy to connect to the pc and copy and paste to and from the micro sd as I please. It's recognised by the pc as a removeble disk same as my camera.

Now i have a smart phone for the first time and can't see to work it out. My Desire will only recognise the 32gb micro card I bought if it's in Charge Only mode when connected to the pc. As soon as I select Disk Drive, it doesn't recognise that the card is mounted. And therefore I can't copy anything to it.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? the micro card the phone came with doesn't have any problems.

I ended up putting the 32gb card into my old nokia, copying what I wanted on to it and then putting it in my desire. But I don't want to have to do that everytime I want to save more music to the phone.

Can anyone tell me what I should be doing differently please?

Much appreciated.

Hey Leeda,

The SDcard can only be mounted on one device at a time. So, if you want to copy files from your pc to the phone, put it in disk drive mode, copy the files, then switch it to charge only or disconnect the cable. At that point your Desire will recognise it again.

Hope that helps.
