Help Micro SIM for Galaxy S3?

I ordered my sim from o2 for free, i didn't have to tell them anything about my current contract just provide my address, maybe t mobile have somewhere you can order one on there website like o2?

Yes, you can order from their website. That's how I got mine and my $30 plan. But to order this micro sim card you have to select a plan to go with it and they are all contract plans, like the lady in chat said. I guess if I want the GS3 I will have to get the scissors.

Agreed. I just told them that I bought a new phone that requires a MicroSIM.

They also work in the SGS2 until my SGS3 arrives :burnout:

Of course you can't revert back.

Hey Lembo,

So my micro sim arrived today from o2, if i go online and set it up I can use it in my current phone till the new one arrives?

Is anyone else wishing the next week away ??

Cheers

Hello,

After dropping my S2 down the loo and having no insurance, (I KNOW!). Luckly I was due for an upgrade anyway I have picked the S3 having loved my S2 so much.

I have asked the people at O2 if I needed a micro sim and they had said no? But I am confused because even on there website at the bottom of the page it tells you how to order the sim?

I am confused. Should I order one incase? Does anyone know if it will have any effect on my current sim?

Cheers

HAHAHA I dropped my S2 down the toilet also and now purchasing an S3 because my S2 was so awesome and I didn't wanna risk getting the One X incase I hated it. As to your question the S3 only accepts Micro-Sim so you want to make sure they are giving you a micro sim and if they don't you can just the cutting yourself it's pretty easy.

I'm ordering two GS3s. I have a plan through AT&T in the US. I went to the store, explained to the sales person that I was ordering 2 of these phones, but would need Micro SIM cards for them. He gave me two of them, but did not put them on my account, as I don't have the phones yet and doing so would deactivate the SIM cards that are already in my phones. He said to call Customer Service and give them the numbers on the cards to activate them and also to make sure that CS does not change my plan at all, that they just activate the cards on the proper phone numbers. There was no charge for the Micro SIM cards he handed me.

If possible, could you give a link to any proper/professional sim-card adapters that are selling on Amazon or Ebay or something like that and would tell me the compatibility of what phones it will fit? That would be really helpful.

I just typed search for sd cards on Amazon and scrolled till I saw one that said "for HTC phones." Try out a few of 'em. They only cost about a buck each.

The only problem with that is when you put the micro sim into the micro-sim adapter and then insert it into your other phone how do you know the micro-sim adapter will fit?

I tried that with my Nokia. The micro-sim adapter got stuck in the slot and wouldn't come out! Had to take it to a Nokia Repair Centre to get it fixed, cost me money. Totally f*cked up the phone!

Not all micro-sim adapters will fit nicely into phones. I learned that the hard way and this is what has made me hate all this micro-sim nonsense! Be prepared for damage.

I have used adapters for a long time. Not all adapters are the same. The better ones add so little thickness that it make no difference. Then there are cheap ones that a really thick and you would have to be not so smart to crap it in the slot if it was that tight.

Exactly, as most phones are moving toward microSIM or even smaller SIM cards.

What smaller SIM cards? There are NO smaller SIM cards.

P.S. There was a talk vendors took part in about moving to some small SIM card format, but the only one available atm is MicroSIM.

"Moving toward" implies in the future. There are only a couple of phones now that use the microSIM and this time next year, most will be using microSIM or the next SMALLER SIM.

And, just to prove I know what I am talking about: http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/01/new-smaller-sim-format-gets-standardized-shrinks-40-percent/
