Does the micro usb socket at the bottom of the S2 just charge the phone and it carries no audio functions? All the audio comes out of the mini jack plug socket?
Yes I would say so. I haven't heard of any micro-usb headphones that are compatible with the SGS2, but then I haven't gone out and looked very hard. I imagine bluetooth headphones work, so you don't always have to use the headphone jack. The micro-usb socket is used for both charging and data transfer.
You can get a home or car dock that get audio through the micro USB. You need to put the correct resistance across 2 pins in the same way as the USB jig. Search xda for it. People have made their own cables and switchable boxes.
