Accessories Micro USB to HDMI cord compatibility

1) Has anybody purchased the Samsung micro-usb to hdmi, and does it work?
2) There is a similar cord, not made by Samsung, on ebay for $4.95. Is it the same? Has anybody tested it?
3) If any of these work, how is the picture quality?

All US versions of the I-9000 Samsung Galaxy S(Vibrant, Epic, Captivate, Fascinate) only have 3.5mm TV out VIA the red, white, and yellow cord found in most stores. HDMI output on the US models was removed by way of Samsung due to a hardware issue supporting HDMI DHCP US standard. No HDMI cable will work on the US models so do not waist your time and money.
