are you plugging a power supply into the adapters after connecting the cable to the phone?

For what it's worth, there was a comment on this issue by someone who seemed to correlate the blackouts with his phone having trouble/looking for a wireless signal. He indicated that his TV is in a poor signal reception area, and this was the cause.

He put his phone in Airplane Mode, so it wouldn't look for a signal, and that this eliminated the blackouts.

Interesting theory - I haven't had opportunity to test it out (my TV is also in a room with very poor signal), but thought maybe the others here might explore this and see if there's any truth to it.

I will definitely test this tonight and let you know the results, also I will post up the video of what my phone looks like, Thanks

Yes i do....i do it exactly the same a the utube video and have tried almost everything

Well, you may want to search the specific way to use it on a Samsung Infuse... I'm not 100% positive the process is as easy as the Galaxy Nexus, although you would assume it would be.

Playing around with my Boss' Evo3D let me know that all MHL capable phones do not have the same set of instructions in using that function.

for what it's worth, I recently bought this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LGUDKK

and it works like a charm. So simple, didn't even touch the instruction book. Just plug in the power cord, plug in the phone and plug the HDMI cord to my plasma and bam...I was looking at my phone's home screen on the TV.....a quick click on Netflix and I was watching a movie on my TV streamed through my phone (I freaking love this technology crap)

I have looked and it all shows the same easy as pie way but it just isn't working with mine and cant figure out why ....it looks so easy....is there a possibility that i have to get the mhl adapter direct from Samsung?

So... I've been having these same problems. Mostly the Monoprice adapter just cuts out to black a lot.. not usable how it is. I have tried two of them from Monoprice with the same issue. While using this latest one though I have noticed something strange. The display is perfect and does not flicker as long as I am actively moving my finger across the screen. I can't really fathom what causes this.. I'm blaming the phone so far but I can kinda fathom that maybe it is the adapter still. I have no idea if my phone is faulty or it's software? I am debating on taking it back to Verizon and claiming it's defective.. see if they will replace it. Can anyone replicate that there screen does not flicker if they are sliding home screens, keeping the finger on the screen and swiping back and forth while not stopping or lifting your finger? If I stop my finger sometimes it works for a little other times it starts flickering. I have not seen it flicker once while moving my finger on the screen. I'm gonna see if i can contact Samsung about this and see what they say.

I am using the Galaxy Nexus.

Hey guys... after some fiddling I got the Monoprice adapter working perfectly. My issue atleast was a MHz issue.. I bumped the min Mhz from 350 to 700 with setcpu and the adapter works flawlessly. Hope this can solve some of your issues as well. Peace!

Sorry to dig up an old thread. But I'm having this same flickering issue and this seems to be the case for me also. I have a strong wifi signal, but 4G is spotty around here in certain areas. It comes and goes...and in my house the signal is really crappy. The flicker never happens when using wifi, but the moment I switch over to data, the flicker starts. When I use just 3G, the flicker is stlll there, but doesn't seem as bad. I'm using the samsung adapter linked in an early post (I tried to post the link but it wouldn't let me).

I've moved my phone closer to the window and now I no longer have any flicker with 4G. It also holds the data connection too. Before 4G would drop (after constant flicker) and I'd get 1X after awhile with no flicker. Anyway I'm typing this right now using a bluetooth keyboard on the TV with HDMI with 4G. I'd say try getting a long HDMI cord and trythis too if you're having the same issues I was having.

was having the cut out problems but tried the flight mode solution (even with good wifi signal) and it seemed to solve it.

Guys, i do not understand the convinience of such an adapter cable. What is wrong with using a specific HDMI / charging cradle for TV output?? i have come across a good KiDiGi [KDG-LCM-GSGN] desktop cradle which has these features. costs even cheaper than this Menotek Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter.. and it is an elegant desktop cradle..
Because that cradle is 50 bucks, and MHL adapters are usually around 10.

In theory, would the USB port on many TVs be able to power the MHL adapter? My TV has one only for firmware updates, but it does still supply power (in fact I can charge my phone off it).

I bought an MHL adapter from T Mobile for $20 since they were the only local store that carried it. Works great on my Resound and Nexus. Micro USB cable just plugs into the cable box and good to go.
