Microphone on Hero not working

New to this site. I've had my Sprint Hero for about 2 months. Just had it replaced because the microphone was not working, and now I'm having the same problem with the new phone. In the middle of a call, people will not be able to hear me. I'm now wondering if it's an app I've installed on my phone. Does anyone know of any apps that cause this problem, or has anyone had this issue with their Hero. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
