Help Microphone problem?

I really enjoy my HTC desire HD but seem to be having issues when talking to someone else. The person I'm talking to usually describes the quality of my voice as muffled, like I'm holding the phone to close, or sometimes a bit staticy. It makes me hard to hear and understand.
Anyone else have this problem? Should I replace the phone?

Is everyone you talk to have this issue? There is a tiny hole on the bottom of the sim card cover next to the Micro USB port, I believe that is the microphone. Is it blocked in anyway? Do you have a case which covers it?

Most calls are like this. I dont have a cover that blocks the mic either.

I'd look at taking it back to the shop then, unless you want to use it with the handsfree kit?

i have the same problem. people can only hear me when i remove the back of my phone. anyone any idea as to how to resolve this?

There's a small hole in the bottom of the back cover, that might be blocked?
