Root MicroSD card problems (root)

Hi I got a sandisk 4gb micro SDHC card today and I was wondering if it is supported by the acer A500 because I have been trying to root my device and have checked everything else and this is the only possible error space. When I start up my tablet I go to settings and check storage and it shows that external memory is 3.69 gb's so it is obviously reading the card. I make sure I have usb debugging checked and the unknown sources checked. I make sure I have my device in portrait mode. I then run the ginger break app up pops the app says make sure you have sd card and what not I click on root device and that god darned wheel just spins forever and ever. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
 
I know you said you have it in portrate mode but did you lock it in portrate mode. Just a thought.I dont really know if that would be a problem.
