Help MicroSD Change Problems

Luminance

Lurker
Okay so i've recently upgraded to the Xperia Arc (2 weeks ago) and i'm loving the phone, so much so I decided to upgrade its standard 8GB card for a Class 10 16GB MicroSD.

I put my 8gig card into my card reader copied all the files and folders over to my computer then put in my 16gig card formatted it then placed all the files and folders on to it.

When I placed my card into the arc an switched it on... it went bananas, the automatic detecting date and time settings changed to 12:00 6th January 1980 (which i've now learnt is the date GPS first went live), SE Sync no longer loads, TrackID can not authenticate and it keeps saying I have missed calls on the lock screen.

So what the hell happened? Also if anyone could help me out and tell me the best way to fix this problem and how I should do memory card upgrades on androids in the future would be great. (This is my first Android Phone)

Thanks,

First is can you put back the 8GB card and does the phone return to "normal"?
If the answer is yes, then
1. Use a backup apps to backup your phone and have the backup app put the backup files on the SD card, also make sure the backup app is not moved to SD card.
2. Copy your backup files to your PC
3. Erase the new SD on the PC and Insert your new card into the phone and have the phone erase it again.
4. Transfer the backup files to the SD card from the PC.
5. Use the backup app to restore using the files.

Good luck! Hope it would help.

Okay so I managed to get everything back to normal after I did a reset (battery out for a min) then placed my old card back in, but this time I unmounted the card before taking out and replacing it with my new one with all the files copied from the old card and now it works fine.
