MidnightRom: GS2 1.03 (3/19/2013)

Considering trying this out. Can the blu Kuban kernel be used to overclock?

Not sure. Link?

New version coming tomorrow
-Fixed com.sec.android.app.myfiles not found issue
-Fixed TwWallpaperChooser has stopped issue
-Disabled sd card read ahead...for now. It seems to cause some issues considering the phone thinks the internal is an sd card
-Changed GPU rendering. Battery life SHOULD be even better now!
-Some install script changes

can he make a custom rom with it then? lol.

Only AOSP based roms can have theme chooser. Cm10, AOKP, slim rom.. Basically anything other than stock. I'm sure when he's ready he will dive into open source. It would be nice dak.

Here it is

I think the ROM is also based off a stock ICS but super tweaked. It ran a little buggy for me. OK so it was a lot buggy. Phone just froze up a lot. I'm not sure if it was because it built for sprint or something to do with the kernel. Or something else..
I have been running cm10.1 and it is stable but not a lot of extras built in yet.
Dumb thing is the phone is fast but I always want to go faster. Lol. I'd be curious to hear what you think.
Thanks

What is it you ask? It's a supercharged, super optimized FL26 stock ROM, with better memory management, more internal memory, and lots lots more!

read OP, it clearly says that its ICS and that it is based off of the STOCK FL26 kernel for THIS phone... that also means that it was created for VIRGIN Galaxy S2's not sprint plus im pretty sure that FL26 is a virgin kernel. and if its not working correctly you probably missed a step, just saying

Well excuse my failure to read op. Still no answer to my original question about using that kernel with this rom. Just saying.

you're forgiven, just read all of OP from now on plz
and to answer the below question

No, i wouldn't because this is designed and optimized for the FL26 kernel, the Kuban kernel is FJ12 kernel (unless kuban has made a FL26 version which i doubt) you can try it, its not like it will Hardbrick your phone it just might not boot or it could boot but you will probably have problems like I and one other guy had (i flashed coming from stock w/ Kuban and didn't go to FL26 FIRST) and TWlauncher will crash loop and not let you do any thing and you will have to flash stock again from ODIN mode..

just do what im doing and wait for the guy to add overclock, he said he was going to.

EDIT: actually i checked and they have two new versions now but im still not sure it will work, im about to try it

EDIT2: flashed Kuban 2.5 and it booted, i haven't seen any issues yet and overclocking seems to work, its too soon to report any problems

Having trouble with the WIFI Tether. it opens, I press the wifi symbol and bleh crashes. I tried to set it to ics setting but still no dice.

any reason why charging my phone via USB gets the phone hot and doesn't actually charge? I'm away from an outlet so I just have my computer at the moment, but it's plugged in and working fine but at 0%. it hasn't happened before until this rom

@OP: Wipe cache + flash for latest update? Or do we need to be doing fresh installs?
You don't need to do a full wipe if you don't want to. Everything SHOULD be fine. BUT, if you have any issues, I'd recommend trying that first

Just noticed that. Easiest fix is to uninstall it, and reinstall it from the app store. I'll fix that next version.

It sounds like something like "keep awake while on usb" is enabled, but I don't think that's anywhere in the settings.....hrmm.....Well, for one, I know that USB doesn't really supply enough power to charge the phone and keep it running at the same time. It'll give it some power, but the battery will still drain...albit, at a slower rate.

What are you doing while it's plugged in? (Copying files or anything)
Is the screen turned off while its plugged in?
Try turning off USB debugging and tell me if it still happens

I've also noticed that this phone gets hot when it's under either GPU or CPU load and/or charging. A LOT hotter than the Evo V 4G...which is perfectly fine, it just may worry some people. Just remember, the phone is basically just a small computer. Heck..it's better then most "normally bought" computers from 5+ years ago, (Walmart bought ones for example) all packed into one little device. This is why I love smartphones so much, it's so incredible how they pack all this incredible hardware into such a small device, keep it from overheating, and have it run for days on just a small battery.

Sorry >.> Rambling lol.

This is not a rom issue, and is fixable. This worked for me on the sxtp ROMs. Haven't tried with this ROM yet.

I take no credit for this... Just copy paste from the team sextape boards...

I'm on your Midnight Rom 1.01 and I wanted to update to 1.02. I wiped cache and went to flash 1.02 but I'm getting an "(Status 7) Installation Aborted error."

Wipe system as well. If it's still happening then re download it and try again. If it STILL happens, then do a full wipe
