Root Might get this phone....

I Might get this phone, and I have a few questions. Will rooting void the warranty? What rom does this run on? I've heard that I can't flash the charge to cm7, is that true? If so are therr any other custom rom's out there I can install? Would I be able to flash it back to stock just incase I need to take it to Verizon? Will this phone recieve the ice cream sandwich update? Will I get unlimited data since it's 4g? Can I tether this phone, or will Verizon charge extra?

Sorry, these answers have probably already been answered but I really need to know asap. Thanks in advanced.

Yes, rooting voids warranty.

The current stock ROM is considered stock EE4. CM7 will not work on Charge (at least not yet... Probably never to be honest).

Yes, there are other custom ROMs.

Yes, you can flash back to stock (though technically your warranty is still void) unless you manage to hard brick your phone.

ICS = possibly... Who knows.

Depends on your plan.

Technically, tethering without the consent of VZW is a violation of TOU... But yes, there are ways to do it.

As long as you can get it back to the Stock ROM, most Verizon store reps won't know that you did anything to it and will help you with the phone.

In all honesty if i were you i would wait till November if you have an upgrade available. The Charge is a good phone but it is also a phone (imo) that you have to root and tweak a bit to get it to perform up to par.

That being said i say hold out on your upgrade till November because there is just to much goodness on the horizon in the Verizon Android world next month. Moto is releasing the RAZR (their new flagship) along with Samsung bringing out the new Nexus (their new flagship) and both seem to be major power houses right out of the box. Plus they are both going to get ICS along with already having major hardware superiority.

Hell take all this and now the leak of the Droid 4 (RAZR with QWERTY) unless your on a budget i would say just wait on that upgrade for a couple more weeks.
