Root MildWild based on Oxygen

Ah ok, I didn't realise that they'd managed to get the camera working and had it in app form! Might definitely be worth a look into, especially if all the ROM features then become useable.

I'm going to show my nooby-ness now though, but if they've managed to get an app from the camera, to work on a wide variety of devices, how come they can't get it to work by default within the ROM? I'm sure it's far more complicated than what I can imagine in my head but it just seems... illogical?

Different type of developer. There are app developers who can code a camera app from scratch. Plenty of them about.

The Desire/Nexus ICS team are not the same kind of devs. They're trying to fix the code and driver issues in the ICS source code, but not really having the ability to code an app from scratch.

I've switched to the CM flavour for a week or so now.. and it's good.

Battery life is comparable imho to the oxygen one.

I'll think I'll flash this one, Dan. I got rid of the other build (beta) as the bugs were too obvious. I'll give this one a proper go.

So v3.8 is good? I'll update the first post shortly, what's changed though?

To be totally honest, right now I don't see myself going back to MildWild, I upgrade at the end of next month and ICS seems to be superb on my Desire.

3.9 is out now.. just playing with it. Has some nice tweaks for apps2sd locations.

For me it's just nice that there are still developers like mildwild who are actively working on the desire... some of the versions have issues but he's trying. He has said thayt the oxygen based rom is difficult for him as it is no longer being developed and there are several bugs he is having to work with little support. He prefers the CM ROM as it's got an active support base for him.

I've been on CM 4.1 since I rooted at Easter but already getting an itchy trigger finger. Wondering whether I should try the latest Oxygen or the ICS beta seeing as you can get a camera app.

still on 3.8 and still liking it :) havent bothered to move to latest as this version is smooth :D

agree - is very good that MW is working so hard for our old phone :)

I was on V-3.9 and currently on V-4.0.

Can't post in xda developer forum so trying out here to see if the suspected bug currently on my Desire is unique.

When I am outdoor, 80% of the time, I have a bluetooth earpiece paired up with my Desire. Using Sony MW600 at the moment.

The issue is, after a while the external speaker will stop working. All incoming calls ringtone can only be heard from the earpiece. So if I happened to be hanging the earbugs around my neck instead, I'll missed my incoming calls and SMS notifications.

The external speaker does not resume operation even after I disconnect my bluetooth earpiece. I will have to reboot the phone so that the external speaker will start playing the ringtone again.
Bluetooth does don't work well for me on both V-3.9 and V-4.0.

Any dude here is using bluetooth earpiece and does not have this issue?

I'm noticing battery issues too on oxygen Mildwild.
But.. I like the blue..

try flashing Thalamus latest stable kernel on top of Mildwild (that's how i use it) and battery is fine for me

i am just not sure what i gain and what i loose with this
i believe i loose 2 ways calls recording and KSM module which i dont use
anything else ?

and on the other side i have the stable kernel from Thalamus without hacks

im still on mw ox 3.8 and all working fine - not bothering to go newer due to too issues

Dan55 - don't suppose you could do me a download link to 3.8 could you? Have posted in xda thread as the rom collection links just give me a message saying publication no longer available, but want to revert back and see if 3.8 gets rid of some fc errors.

hi Saltire,

mmmm...ive only got a local copy ..think i will have to dropbox it for you if possible - but am only on phone at moment - so might have to be tomorrow - soz

ive got 3.0 ox up there already - is that any good to you?

Hey guys, I installed Mildwild 4.0, but I cant enable my sd-ext. "it says sd-ext disabled using auto". PLease need help. It seems like I cant mount the sd-ext, because I tried that using ClockWorkMode.

Dan - thanks, in no big rush so whenever you've got time to sort out dropbox upload that would be great. (post on xda so far being ignored - surprise, surprise)

Did you partition using Gparted? (only tool recommended for the job, although 4Ext Recovery also seems to work but never tried it.) And have you followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25430232&postcount=3812 to actually enable it in the rom?

yeah, I followed the instructions to enable the ROM. I think the problem relies on the SD card. I didnt use Gparted though. When I try to insert the SD card into my laptop, I dont see anything, it always ask me to format it in order to gain access . I am sorry, but I am a beginner on this kind of things, but do I need to download any a2sd script in order to make it work? because what I read about this ROM is that, it doesnt need any custom script since it has app2sd .

assuming you have now partitioned your sd card correctly, instructions on how to enable sd-ext are towards the bottom of the first post on the xda thread.

you won't have to flash any apps2sd scripts.

i also recommend you install 'diskusage' to how your various partitions are used up.

not sure if you've done this already, but to maximise space you should also s-off and change to cm7r2 hboot.
