Help Mine doesn't show 1 gig memory

I've downloaded a memory manager app to verify how much ram I have and it shows total available as about 750 megs. Is samsungs ui taking up the other 256 and not reporting it?
This is the samsung galaxy tab 2 7" by the way.
I also have the nexus and run the app and it shows 1 gig total available.

Do you think I got shorted?

I think it just the way it reports memory. Mine shows 687MB

I think that's kind of strange. The nexus I have shows the gig it reports. Makes me wonder if it's only 756 megs of ram. Maybe being rooted it would show it all.

chances are some of the memory is held back for dedicated processes like running the UI or perhaps Video on the device.

I am just guessing but this is what computers with built in video do. They hold back a portion of the memory to be used as V-Ram

I kinda thought the same thing. I'm planning on eventually rooting this and I'd assume that would free it up. Time will tell.

After your device is rooted you can either remove, uninstall or using a util such as Rom Manager can freeze apps from runnning at bootup which will help to free up memory, and more than likely make the tablet a bit faster.

My Nexus 7 shows 946MB which is 1GB to me.
