Root Minimal Experience

Hi All,

I have been working with my Epic 4g for a month now and have successfully rooted and flashed the midNIGHT ROM (versions 4.0, 4.1, and now 4.2). Now I need to do the same for my wife's EVO. I'm looking to achieve the basics;
-longer battery life
-no bloatware
-no FC's

If anyone is familiar with the midNIGHT ROM and/or Epic 4g are there similar ROMs and i assume i would go to the normal support locations, i.e. xda-developers, etc.....

Any help in locating a ROM and deltas to the procedures would be helpful.

My wife had an epic running Midnight and decided within the 30 days to switch to an Evo as she liked mine better than the Epic. I rooted her Evo and put Mikfroyo on it and she loves it. My kernel choice was Netarchy 4.3.1 CFS-Havs-SBC though some prefer non-sbc kernels(trickle charging). If you follow the rooting for dummies thread, it will get you rooted and then you can look around to find the rom you want to put on it. Most custom roms have the bloatware removed. What is the Hboot version and baseband currently on the phone?

As far as support, there are many here that are willing to help. I followed the Epic forums for a while and this one is much more active and helpful than any I have seen to date.

I actually thought about switching TO an Epic a little while ago. (and keeping my Evo as a backup)
But the point that there is so much more for the Evo when it comes to root goodies, i decided to stick with it.

There are a lot of nice roms for the Evo. For what you are looking for, and to keep it somewhat similar, and having a rom that everything works on, I would say to go for Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo, or Koni's Elite II. I have both of them saved on my phone, and like them very much. There is a ton of info for you to look into on this forum about both of them and you can make your decision.
