Root Minor theming ?

I am trying to change the icon for the ics mms apk. Here's my problem, I cannot for the life of me get apktool to run or any of the other apk managing toools. I have java installed and updated. I am running win 7 64bit. Do i have to follow driftas guide to setting up a build environment? I hate to ask this ? here but I'm totally lost :confused:

Edit: I'm trying to change the icon from green to blue...
 
Just use 7zip to extract the apk, then navigate to the Res>drawable hpdi folder find icon swap it out (make sure you name the icon the same as the one already there and make sure yours is a PNG) then right click the apk go to 7zip>open archive and then delete the Res folder and move the Res folder that you changed the image in to that open archive window and bam you're done. Put it in the system app folder and reboot and you're golden ;)
 
The easiest thing for you to do would be take the icon from LD-ICK ZVD because it is blue and copy and paste it into whatever you want.

All you need is 7zip to do that. Right click the apk and open archive with 7zip. navigate to drawables-hdpi and find the png and replace it. That's it. Install the new apk



Basically what Shiny said, except get the file from ICK ZVD ;)
 
Yup wat shinyside &fuzzy said,also If u just want a different color but you wanna use the same icon just use paint.net.
 
Didn't work guys. It's an app from the marketplace not a system app. Ics messaging. Ooh well I'm sure there is a way i just can't figure it out.
