Help Mis read the Jelly bean update and changed my Boost to Sprint. Help please!!

I am a Boost Mobile customer.. I recently saw that sprint user can now download there Epic 4g to Jelly bean. Due to me misreading thinking this was an Over the wire update on the Epic 4g touch in general. I just downloaded the Jelly Bean that was meant for sprint user of the Epic 4g to my Boost Epic 4G.. Is this going to cause problems with my phone now..

By problems, I mean will Boost shutdown my phone if I don't return it back to the normal..

I am still trying to understand the whole Root and Flash things of phones..

Also Everything that was once boost is now saying Sprint!! Is that going to be a problem now as well..

Hmm I can't verify if this will cause problems or not.

What you may be able to do, download the correct update via Kies and do a re update.

Moved to boosts s2 forum as well.

Our GS II variant is the EXACT version of Sprint's Epic 4G Touch. It's just rebranded is all.

Back to the main problem.
Samsung also released Jelly Bean for our variant. If you don't want to go through the hassle of rooting. Here's a link to a rooted Samsung Jelly Bean ROM: Rwilco12's Android Repository - Downloads

(Download the .exe file. It is a one click process)

Instructions on how to use Odin one-clicks can be found here: Rwilco12's Android Repository - Boost Samsung Galaxy S2 (SPH-D710BST) How To Flash an Odin One-Click.exe

EDIT: Boost will not terminate your service. I've been flashing so many Epic 4G Touch ROMs on my device, I still have service. (I'm a flash-a-holic by the way) You have nothing to worry about.

Unless you like the Boost bloatware (I never used any of it and uninstall bloat with Titanium Backup) you can stick with the Sprint labeled one.

I did the same thing I wanted the boost stock so I went to samsung and downloaded the wizard from SAMSUNG (after going through the steps of finding the phone mine is the white s2 which is sph-d710 I like the boost stock simply because I can contact customer service and so I can use voicemail 2 text

As said, you can leave it sprint just make the mms URL change but you will need your MSL (master subsidy lock) number (good thing to have anyway). If you happened to print the instructions when you first added the phone to your boost account your MSL number is on those instructions.

It really is easy to flash with the one click file (link posed by HiredxGunz). In fact, i was playing with rooting my phone last night and decided it was not necessary. So i reflashed it again with the same file that you will use. Be aware you have to have Kies installed on your computer as you will need the Samsung USB drivers for your computer.

Not a big deal. :) If you want to root your phone then download the restore/rooted exe. Now you are rooted. Just be aware once rooted you can now really mess up your phone as it will give you full access to all settings.

Do some research, know what each step i gave means and go for it. The all things rooted section of this forum is spectacular! Read all that you can.

How do I get the MMS back on my phone.. I don't have MSL that you guys mentioned above.. Plus what are the exact step that I need to follow to get MMS back to normal!!

Check out the "One Stop Shop" that is a sticky at the top of the All things Root section. It contains the information you need to fix it. It is just a couple setting changes. You do need to get your MSL to enter it. (you can get that from boost).

ive been using the sprint roms for some time now there is not a problem other than youll need to fix mms

i did the update on my boost mobile phone but now it says virgin mobile as the provider. when i called customer service, it was a boost mobile message that answered. i did the update last week. ever since than, i've had trouble with mms. can you please tell me how do i fix it?

This happened to me as well. My Boost phone is now a Sprint phone and does not attach anything (pics, files, etc.) to my text messages. Went to Boost who sent me to Samsung who sent me to Sprint who sent me back to Boost who doesn't know what to do. Now I'm here and and it seems like you know what to do to get it back to Boost but I am not sure I understand. Can someone explain it in noobie terms. :) Thanks!!

How do you fix mms?

Boosts automated help system should be able to help you. If you know your MSL it is very easy to type the settings. Alternately you can also flash the GC01 restore and get yourself onto a Boost labeled ROM again (copy pics and stuff to an external SD card before doing).

Thank you so much for your response!! Someone is finally listening to me.

I finally got my MSL number. Had to find a human at Boost because none of the "Get my MSL" apps would show it.

The Boost automated help does not help. My phone supposedly has been factory resetted several times. I looked at the link for the GC01 restore and the things I'm downloading do not look like what is described. Can you explain how to flash the GC01 restore?

the MSL apps don't work because of change in the toolbox bin. There is a way to deal with that but it required that you root.

If you have your MSL, you can simply follow the MMS fix instructions for Touch Wiz ROMs in the "One stop shop" that is a sticky in the all things root section.

the automadd help I had to choose the options for MMS not working.

For restoring the GC01 ROM, go to this post for links for the file and also for the instructions on how to do it.
