Help missed call app?

maybe i'm missing something, but when i miss a call there's nothing on the home screen to show me i've missed a call...except for the little symbol on the top bar. Anybody know of an app that will display the missed call (number & time) in a decent size on the home screen?

I downloaded an app called "missed it" but I cant get it to open on the nexus. What Im looking for is an app or widget that shows emails, calls and txts missed. and would like to be able to go to the missed call or txt from the app. I dont like the notification at the top either.
