Help Missed call notification error

hello, i have a samsung S3 GT I9300 International version.
please help me with this issue.. this is very annoying, frustrating too..

my phone shows it has 1 missed call pending always whereas there is no missed call present in real. even if i have 3/4/5 missed calls in real it still shows 1 missed call & when im done checking missed calls & pressed home button it still shows 1 missed call.

my device was on ICS when the problem occurred, i updated it to jelly bean 4.1.2 but still the problem remains. if i use any other launcher app & select to use default system icons the icon works in a perfect manner but when i return back to TouchWiz home it again shows 1 missed call sign on the top-right corner of the phone keypad icon.

otherwise all other functions are working well. even though it shows one missed call the LED doesnt notify me accordingly, it works just fine.

please sort me a way out of this weird problem. thanks in advance.

Could your missed call notification be a voicemail perhaps?

i do not have any voicemail pending.
actually evth is just okay but this Phone button always displays 1 missed call alert.
please help to get rid of this disgusting issue.

Try going to settings, application manager, all tab and scroll down to BadgeProvider and clear data.

hmmm, could you take a screenshot of this icon?
You say this icon is on your phone dial pad screen? Or in the notification bar?
I am not exactly clear on where you see the icon, sorry

Tbh, i didnt know Touchwiz did badges. I use the Nova add-on..

well it didnt even need any restart. i just checked the icon once by touching it & then it is fine.
im still scratching my head on how cud u knw dat! thnks news.

i had the same problem with message notifications and clearing the badge provider cleared up the notification as well.
