"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

We can help each other out. I'm sure there's a few other Hampton Roads people following the twitter account, maybe we can find one for us androidforums.com guys :)

Where in Va Beach are you? I'm in Glenwood.
Windsor Oaks here -- I used to live in Glenwood a couple years ago...small world.

Anybody hit up the Vegas Strip for Droid X #1 yet?

Yes, a couple people checked the Sahara (in reference to the desert tweet that came before the slots machine reference) and Caesar's Palace I believe. A few pages back.

If I was in Vegas, I'd have been casino hopping for the past few days just in case I stumbled upon the X lol.

Back on topic, tomorrow is July 2nd. Remember the Droid X teaser ad that revealed the @Droidlanding twitter account? Well as most of you know, they think that the date 7-2-2010 is revealed at the end as well. I saw the Droid X commercial on tv A LOT tonight. I wonder if the 2nd is when the "real" hunt for the X's begins, with more specific hints. That, or maybe Verizon/Motorola are going to launch a bigger marketing campaign beginning the 2nd...

I'm sure we can find more Hampton Roads folks -- I've only been here six years. Age: 30.

I'm in local TV here.

Sweet. I have a few friends from some of the local news shows lol. I am in hotel management, used to manage at the Hilton Va Beach Oceanfront and aloft Hotel in Chesapeake. Anyways, nice to meet ya!

I saw the teaser a lot tonight as well, but each time the end frame has 7.2010 -- doesn't that just mean July, 2010?

To the naked eye it does. When you freeze frame it however, it appears to flash the 7.2.2010 date. I know it looks fuzzy, but the argument is basically "why is there a 'period' dot in between 2.2010 when the screen flashes."

Best of luck. Hope it's there. And not to be a jerk, but I kind o hope you don't find it. I got a rental car and will be road tripping to Ohio tomorrow night; that's assuming nothing closer presents itself. ;)

not to dampen your efforts, and i have no idea how big or small cleveland is, but you're saying you would have covered the ENTIRE city!?!? Seriously tho, good luck!

Ok so I decided to skip the texas motor speedway while searching tonight. Main reason is that Samsung sponsors the TMS and I don't really think they'd hide it at a competitors venue. I did however search the verizon wireless theatre for two reasons. 1 its verizon and 2 there is a horse racing track across the street. I also searched the cowboys stadium because moto is a pretty big sponsor of the nfl as well as the stadium has a lot of motocross and monster truck stuff there which moto also sposors. To make a long story short I didn't find jack. :(

What do you mean by search? Are you talking like walking around sticking your hands in random crevices hoping you'll pull out an X?

No...I looked for any type of sign. Droid eye. Pulled up maps and looked for an x shaped anything. Looked in every number 5 parking area. Basically used every hint given so far. If I saw anyone I told my story and asked. I'm really not believing that its in a box placed anywhere. Security at the stadium confirmed my belief that there are no random boxes placed in public venues. The would be recovered by security or groundskeepers before anyone actually searching for them would find them.

I also looked for cars sporting verizon or moto stickers etc.

just think. If all those suspisions about 7-2-10 were correct, we'd all be at a VZW store or BB right now getting our DX's

Just joking, but I wanted to bring up that I thought the Dixie reference was Alabama. The state nickname is: The Heart of Dixie!
